Okay, damnit... Went to Napa and for some reason the guy behind the counter could not help me and looked at me like I was an idiot. I admit, at times I can be but I don't feel this was one of those times as the last guy I talked to earlier got me the parts without question.

So here are my questions.

I have Torino style axle ends, what bearings and seals?

I also have the Daytona style pinion which uses a solid spacer and shims, not a crush sleeve. What "LB" rating is this and what pinion seal do I need? Is this all standard for a Torino 9" rear end? What years would this come from.

I do have some other questions about axles. My paper work lists the following information. Some of which I can figure out, some I have no idea what it means.

Rear Axle:
Style: Performance
Type: Tapered T&E ?
Spline: 35@60 DEG STD ? (I know what the spline count is, but what is the 60 DEG STD?)
Pattern: Dual
Stud: 17/32 Disc ?
Reg Dia: 2.800 ?
Dr Axle: 28.014
Pas Axle: 30.891

The question marks represent my failure to understand the info.

Thanks!

This may help you determine what seals and bearings you need,

http://www.dutchmanms.com/dutchmanorders.pdf Scroll down to the housing end chart. These guys are 9# gurus so might just want to give them a call.

60 deg is the spline pitch. Important to match locker/ spool. Reg diam+ brake drum register on face of axle flange. I assume 17/32 is the stud size, but I have never heard of that one before. Most large bearing/ 3.150 axles use Timken Set 20 bearings. Pinion seal should be standard for all 28 spline pinions.

I hope no one mind me using some one elses thread, but this reminded me of a problem I have with a 9". Does anyone know if or where you can buy just the bering retainer the part store only sells them with the bearing I just had to replace the seals.
