...It's what my grandfather shot in WWII (Canadian) when he wasn't blasting away on the Bren. He was a gunner on a Bren carrier (light armored recon)....

I've found one that's in "original" form and am wondering what they're worth. My uncle has my grandfather's .303, but many years ago gramps sporterized it for his own use so it doesn't look like what it did when he carried it and I'm intrigued to have one that way.

This is the one for sale...

Of course, gramps sporterized version is WAAAY more important (priceless) to me as he took MANY MANY deer, elk, beaver, blablabla with it over the years. I don't think it's the one he actually carried in the war, but he's since passed and noone knows anything about it. He had a military career after the war, so he probably got it thereafter sometime.

It and his other firearms are stuck north of the border until I figure out how to properly, and without fail, import them....

What's your input? What are your sentimental peices? Pics pleeze!

I've got one of those. :D

It was sporterized by my great uncle many years ago, and it was used by my dad for as long as I can remember. It's probably my second favorite piece, after my grandpa's shotgun.

Last time I saw a lot of them for sale, they were bringing around $90.00, but that's been a while.

How long ago was this? This dood is asking $300 for the gun, bayonet, and like 20 rounds

It's been a few years. One of the gun shops back home would buy them by the pallet. You basically picked out a cosmolene soaked box and headed to the cash register. Take it home, clean it up and see what you've got.

They may be bringing that much in today's market, but I wouldn't give it. They're a decent, reliable, accurate beater. Not a collector's item or tactical wonder gun.

Maybe somebody who's more familiar with current prices will check in here, but I think the dude is smoking crack.

EdGlock21 and I were just discussing guns with sentimental value. I love my Smith and Wesson 6904. It's old, I've refinished it, but it's my first gun that I ever purchased, and even did any sort of gunsmithing/modification work to. I only need to get a replace grip, and do some touchup painting and it will look better than new.

I'll get some modded pics in a few.

He mentioned it being from the Toronto arsenal blablabla...I haven't done any digging yet to see what all it means.

Heck, you can trace a 91/30 the same way and make it sound special knowing where it came from and where it went. Some 91/30s are even "worth" (read:for sale) for much more because of all this. This really doesn't matter to me though as I'll shoot it and love it all the same either way.

Wish I could find a "pick-a-box" place round here!

There is one for sale on a local board for 325 and it comes with a few hundred pieces of ammo. When I was a kid dad bought me one to deer hunt with and he payed 90 dollars for it all soaked in cosmoline. I never used it to hunt with, I shot a few cinder blocks and that is all.
