I am going to test the compression on my 22re and wanted to know the correct way to compression test a 22re. Do you know how?

Just pull the plug and put in the compression test hose. Tighten by hand so it's snug, and have someone crank the engine over a few times.

It's pretty straightforward.

I think it should be around 180-220psi or so

I have read that there may be something else that you may need to do because of it being efi? Will it skew the results if fuel is getting to the motor?

It shouldn't bother anything, but you could pull the fuse for the fuel pump if you're worried about it.

You want to disconnect the ignition wire to the distributor. You just want to crank it over not let it run. It probably wouldn't hurt anything, but it won't run well with a plug out.

Its also a good idea to have it at operating temperature and the throttle wide open.

Pull ALL the plugs. Wide open throttle. Keep the gauge oriented the same way, in case your needle has a little slop, like some cheap gauges have. Then there's the wet test...don't forget that diagnostic gem
