: Frielings Labor Day
Redruuster 08-12-2009, 10:34 AM It's been at least a year since I've run Frielings, thinkin about maybe running it on Saturday of Labor Day weekend. I will only be wheelin on Saturday and Frielings is a little close for me that weekend so any takers would be great. Just let me know.
baustin 08-12-2009, 02:11 PM better do some checking , I heard he closed it unless you contact him and let him know your comeing. may not be true just what I heard. If so that would suck I love that place
Blase 08-12-2009, 03:10 PM You have to call and let him know that your coming I'm pretty sure. Kind of sad considering that he keep wheeling in Clayton! I don't have a number for him but I'm sure he'd LOVE to see some guy out wheeling.

His number is posted on here somewhere. Cant remember where though. Shane may have posted it.
Redruuster 08-12-2009, 07:39 PM Yea he usually keeps it locked, we have the combo though just have to call and let him know your coming. So let's go!
linked&bobbed_S10 08-12-2009, 07:54 PM Well we will have 5 rigs heading down to Clayton on Friday. We plan on hitting up Frielings at some point that weekend. Saturday sounds as good as anytime! Let me get with my guys and see what the plan is! I would also like to venture over to Daisy and see what's going on at that new spot!
TJ Ken 08-13-2009, 08:44 PM Not sure what we'll be doing Labor Day yet...Trying to get my new ride together.
BUT for anyone that needs to get ahold of Mr. Freiling...Here's his # 405-820-3476
Landslide 08-13-2009, 09:05 PM About 5 rigs in my crew will be in Clayton - would love to check out Freiling's place as well, never been there.
There is suppose to be some sort of country western music festival down there that weekend also - town supposed to be kinda crowded.
linked&bobbed_S10 08-14-2009, 11:11 AM Its more than just a country music festival, its the national Choctaw Nation Labor Day Festival, with an expected 60,000 people attending. There aren't any hotel rooms within 60 miles of Clayton. We are doing the travel trailer thing at the Indian Mounds campground between Clayton and the lake. In fact, the lake is all booked up.
We need to get a good group over at Freiling's, let's hit it up!
See ya down the trail!
OkLaHoMaYJ 08-14-2009, 12:32 PM If there is an open seat anywhere I wouldn't mind going :D
I enjoy running winch lines, stacking rocks, turning wrenches and spotting :flipoff2:

Although My girl does do pretty well.
OkLaHoMaYJ 08-14-2009, 02:31 PM That was the intention!
I talked to him a couple weeks ago and he said he opens the gate on the weekends, but if you want to wheel any during the week you need to call and let him know your coming.
bigcountryII 08-15-2009, 03:44 PM The last time I was at Freilings, there wasn't but a half adays wheeling. I love the place but when they put the gas wells up there it screwed up alot of trails. The last time I talked with Mr. Freiling he said he had bought another 100 acres on the back side of the top parking lot but no one had cut trails on it yet. Has anyone ever started cutting back there yet.
linked&bobbed_S10 08-15-2009, 04:13 PM Not as of February when we were there! He mentioned that to me as well! It definitely needs to be looked at and there might be some good stuff on that side!
See you guys on the Saturday of Labor Day! It looks like we will have 5 rigs there!
okie 1 ton yj 08-15-2009, 06:50 PM A few years back me and some friends went down and walked the new land. The are a couple spots that would make some pretty nice trails. There is a rocky creek that goes all the way down the side of the hill. It didnt look like it would take a whole lot of trimming and clearing to open it up.

Sounds like a good time, we should make it a "South Central PBB" meet n greet.
linked&bobbed_S10 08-18-2009, 07:55 PM How many guys you gonna be bringing with you Heath? Or will you just be coming by yourself?
Landslide 08-19-2009, 05:56 AM We're at 3 for sure and maybe 4 rigs.
Redruuster 08-19-2009, 04:17 PM How many guys you gonna be bringing with you Heath? Or will you just be coming by yourself?
Probably just me and my son, kinda lonely that weekend. My usual crew "The Ol Geezers" are heading to Green Acres, which is fine I just want to try something different and the Ol Geezers are hard to peel far away from their travel trailers at Clayton Country INN. So if you don't mind I need some wheelin buddies and you guys seem to be it. Let's talk and meet up.
J Station 08-19-2009, 07:37 PM If you have room for one more the wife and I will be up there looking for someone to follow around. Never been to Frielings so need direction. I can't find any of the Woodward crew to go yet . Need to show the wife Redneck Millionaire some time that weekend.
linked&bobbed_S10 08-19-2009, 08:25 PM Well we are up to a possible sighting of 10-15 rigs at Freilings for that Saturday! I hope that this all pans out! My group is saying "YES" to hitting up Freilings, I just have to stay on top of them!
I dropped off my rear driveshaft at Blumenthal's yesterday afternoon, time to get retubed! 6 trips to Green Acres and 1 trip to Cass had taken its toll!
Is the "Ol' Geezer's" group the Gene Wilson group?

Yes he is Geezer number 1, Bud Harris is Geezer number 2, Phil is quickly becoming Geezer number 3.
linked&bobbed_S10 08-23-2009, 09:09 PM The rear driveshaft is rebuilt and back in! The only thing left is checking the crank cases and strapping it down on the trailer! We'll be at Green Acres that Friday afternoon, see whoever is going to be at Freiling's on Saturday, and we'll do Green Acres again on Sunday!
Can't wait to meet some new people at Freilings!
sayb2 08-23-2009, 10:07 PM linked, did u tell ur bro about the driveshaft getting retubed? i dont think so. ill still drive a thousand miles for that night run though...just ned to open up 2 seats.
linked&bobbed_S10 08-24-2009, 08:13 PM Well a night run isn't guaranteed since we are staying further away from Green Acres, and you knew that I was going to get it retubed at some point!
You are gonna have to just show up for Brad's birthday party and we'll see what happens!
yellojanda 08-24-2009, 08:41 PM I thought gene and bud were going to poteau? Traffic will be heavy that weekend because of the choctaw music festival so be prepared.I also had some guys call me from dallas who were going to clayton so expect a pretty good crowd there to.Does anyone know if beefy or blaze are coming to clayton?

Last I heard they would be running Green Acres with Dale Williams but I've been meaning to walk down the street and talk it over with neighbor Bud and find out for sure. He just got back from a two week stint in Sturgis. I think he's a dirty ol man.
linked&bobbed_S10 08-25-2009, 01:02 PM So what is going to be the head count for this "meet and greet" run?!

The shop that we do all of our building and fab out of in Goldsby, it is his son's 21st birthday. It was left up to his son's choice due to the birthday. I asked about this last week, and everyone was fine with it, but when i asked tonight, the plans had changed!
Oh well! What can I do about it? I'm not gonna bitch, at least I'll be going wheeling!
I'll catch you somewhere on the trail Heath!
And since Heath can only wheel on Saturday, I hope to see the rest of you guys at Green Acres at some point!
Just say hello to the red and yellow beater S-dime! I'll have a cold adult beverage for ya!

What do you mean? I can't drive it from where I'm staying, I'm staying in Eufaula. Freilings is on Highway 1 heading towards Talihina. This is the NO Shit directions. Heading East on Highway 1 from Highway 2, you turn North at the big Satellite Dish and West at the Catfish Heads stuck on the fencepoles. If anyone and everyone doesn't know where this is I suggest we meet at the corner of Highway 1 and Highway 2 and I can lead the way from there.
Where are you planning to stay?
J Station 08-27-2009, 08:11 PM You know your trails . The 2nd pic is where we go most weekends. We got a good group of guys in Woodward now.Sounds good to meet. The way it looks we may stay in McAlester but i will let you know

Were staying at Clayton Country INN camping out back. Last year we drove from there with our rigs through town to Green acres with no issues. Apparently Freilings is a bit farther away?
Just had to laugh at your diretions:laughing: Nothing compares to very large cat fish heads on fence post either:laughing:

Freilings is 45 mintues easy from the clatyon country inn. With the traffic for the festival I would not chance driving it in an non steer legal rig. Lots of state troopers that weekend. Trails are normally pretty clear that weekend because no one can get rooms. have fun guys tell mR Freiling hello for the Coonass's for me.

Redruuster 08-28-2009, 08:44 AM Sorry, I should've explained further. The Satelite Dish is a North turn at N4370
(Cardinal Rd.), the catfish heads are a turn West at E1570 then you take the first turn North at an unnamed Rd and there you are. It's best to park at his house, he has a huge front yard (i.e. 10 acres or so). Then you head up the mountain, pay your day money 20.00 I guess at the gas pump and start the platuea at the top.
linked&bobbed_S10 08-28-2009, 11:50 AM When we there in February, he had us park and unload up the mountain at the first pump deck right above Lower TSOB. You'll go past the gate/cattle guard to the trails, then just take the next right. It seemed to be easier to park there than at his front yard.
If his gate to his house is closed, don't walk up the driveway, he has some pretty aggressive dogs.
Has anyone called Mr. Freilings to let him know that there are people planning to be there Saturday and Sunday?
If not, I'll make a call this afternoon and ask where he would prefer everyone to park and unload at.
I think that its only $10-$15 for his place, but who knows!
linked&bobbed_S10 08-28-2009, 11:52 AM The Freilings land is 25 miles north of Clayton. Its in the community of Buffalo Valley between Yanush and Talihina.

linked&bobbed_S10 09-01-2009, 03:31 AM I talked to Mr. Freilings yesterday. He will have the gates open and asked for $10 entry fee. He said that he would prefer for everyone to park up at the oil rig deck and unload up there instead of at his house.
The deck will be past the gate/pay area and you'll continue up the hill and when the road begins to take a left hand curve, turn right and there you'll be!

It would probably be best to meet at the corner of Highway 1 and Highway 2. How about 8:00 A.M. Although I know you'll have the wife with you so if that's too early, let me know. There is a large turnoff area at this intersection on the Northeast corner, I think that would be best. My cell is (405) 651-3396 for anyone that needs to contact me.
Killerpee 09-01-2009, 06:53 PM I wish I could go with you guys. 10$ per day is a steal....especially considering Mr. Freiling practically kept wheeling in Clayton going. Its about a 35-40 minute trip from Clayton Country. Be very aware of drunken indians that weekend...we camped at Clayton State Park last year and I would be in jail if I had my pistol with me....something aobut meth and liquor and campfires, combined with a lack of local enforcement, adds up to several very long nights in a row.
If he had some decent facilities on his property, we would be at Freilings all weekend.

Redruuster 09-03-2009, 08:54 AM First off, I must say I'm truly impressed that we have gotten a thread about running Freilings on one day up to (4) pages. Good job fellas. Anyhow are we still planning to meet Sat at 8:00 on the highway or at the trail head?
linked&bobbed_S10 09-03-2009, 01:06 PM Right now, there aren't any open seats, sorry dude! I think that even Barry is going to have a passenger!
But I'll keep you posted!
Heath, your best bet is to meet at the Y in Yanush. You can pass that turn in (Cardinal Rd.) very easily!

Redruuster 09-08-2009, 02:41 PM How did Freiling's go for Saturday?[/QUOTE]
Frielings was a good run, nobody that said they were showing up actually came through except JStation so it was just the two rigs, consequently we ran all over that place. Did all the hard stuff, that now that I have a more capable rig, wasn't that hard anymore. Blew a power steering line, had a bad ignition wire and tried to run myself over with my own rig. Other than that it was a good run and nice change of pace from the Acreage.

OkLaHoMaYJ 09-08-2009, 02:46 PM Can't wait to see some pics..
linked&bobbed_S10 09-08-2009, 04:26 PM Here are pics from Friday and Saturday at Green Acres.....
The first set are from 3 Trail on Friday morning!
linked&bobbed_S10 09-08-2009, 04:28 PM Some more from 3 Trail on Friday morning....
linked&bobbed_S10 09-08-2009, 04:31 PM Here are the pics from the Black Sheep attempts.....J Station made it, while Steve (purple Jeep) and I (red and yellow S-double nickel) got caught to far to the right and stuck in the undercut!
linked&bobbed_S10 09-08-2009, 04:34 PM More pics from Black Sheep
linked&bobbed_S10 09-08-2009, 04:37 PM These pics are from Saturday morning, starting off with a run up Jeff's Ledges. I found the deep ass water hole in the middle of the trail, needless to say, my driver's floor board is now clean!
linked&bobbed_S10 09-08-2009, 04:39 PM More pics from Jeff's Ledges.....
linked&bobbed_S10 09-08-2009, 04:42 PM As we waited on some u bolts for a front driveshaft, we played on Waterfall before hitting Green Mamba!
linked&bobbed_S10 09-08-2009, 04:44 PM More pics from Waterfall....
linked&bobbed_S10 09-08-2009, 04:46 PM And finally, pics from Green Mamba at the end of the day on Saturday!
linked&bobbed_S10 09-08-2009, 04:47 PM More of Green Mamba....
linked&bobbed_S10 09-08-2009, 04:57 PM We finished Green Mamba and started to do 8 point to have a nice trail run, but the Blazer froke his 3rd front driveshaft u-joint.
On Sunday morning, the decision was made to go for KT's Climb, and I was the first to attempt it, I worked and worked for close to 2 hours and I had to winch at the big ledges. The rest of the group decided to go up 8 Point and meet me at the top. We finished 8 Point to wrap a long weekend at the "Acreage", but Brad in the red and silver Cherokee had a rough ending. He broke his driver's front brake line, lightly blew a tire off the bead, and at the top, he broke the front end in one bounce at a loose hill climb.
It was a great weekend! I came home in one piece, more dented body damage, but with a few more leaks!
I can't wait to get back!

Next time you can run behind us, we'll show you the line on KT's climb, then we can drag you around Gobblers Knob. Glad you had fun though.
sayb2 09-08-2009, 08:48 PM so what ur saying is u had bad spotting huh linked?
scooter141 09-08-2009, 09:55 PM I have got to get the BII started/finished.....
I might have a 78 Ford D-60 for sale ! ! ! ! Depends on one or two things, but I might have to let her go.
linked&bobbed_S10 09-09-2009, 03:32 AM I'm not sure if I like the idea of being drug through any trail! Ya, this weekend was a blast, my truck did exceptionally well for what it is! No, it wasn't a lack of spotting Seth, it was a lack of truck! There were big rocks!
awsum4x4 09-09-2009, 08:15 AM Was it the truck? Was it the spotter? Or was it the driver? I'm not going to say. But i will say that that BARNEY JEEP (the purple one) is a BAD ASS JEEP or should i say an awsum4x4. Anyway all the trucks worked pretty well this weekend but most important we had a great time.
Landslide 09-09-2009, 10:39 AM J Station, it was a blast wheeling with ya up walk in the park Saturday night. Guess we kept you up too late huh:laughing:
Not sure why but Harry (green flatty) wanted to load up his toys and go home Sunday:shaking: If my T-case housing wasn't cracked I would've hung around and wheeled Sunday too.
We talked about going to Freiling's Saturday but the rest of my crew never been to Clayton before wanted to spend more time checking out Green Acres

linked&bobbed_S10 09-09-2009, 07:09 PM David, it was a good time running with you on Friday. I thought about calling you Sunday morning as we drove past the Country Inn, but it was also 11 am or so, and i thought that if you weren't up and around by then, you had a late night!
Your rig is impressive, and I wanna say thank you for the help on Friday. Hopefully, we will hook up again!

Shane how is the Ford guy doing after the tree branch
linked&bobbed_S10 09-09-2009, 08:23 PM He is good as far as I know! I think that his finger was sore and swollen the entire weekend! He was entirely excited about the weekend since he stayed in one piece, so his finger wasn't a big deal for him.
If your interested, we are looking at a Poteau/Clayton thing for the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving. This will be an open invite to whoever wants to be there as if you need my invite!

hmmmm...
linked&bobbed_S10 09-10-2009, 01:09 PM My buddy Barry in the black tubed Cherokee backed off of the rock wall at the top of 3-Trail into a dead Pine tree, cause all kinds of branches to fall off of the tree, with one big one missing his head by 6-10 inches! He was lucky not to have that 'widowmaker' branch hit him, it could've been a short weekend!
so this awsum guy drives a purple jeep huh? I missed him all weekend, you should try KT's Climb when we're down there next time, you can even be first this time!
awsum4x4 09-19-2009, 12:00 PM If someone wouldnt have taken so long i would have walked right up it.
linked&bobbed_S10 09-19-2009, 04:01 PM It's all fun and games once someone paves the road! I've got to do all of the work!
