Not sure just what exactly you want to know?

You have a tranny out of a 78 Waggie? Right?
You don't know what tranny it is? And you want to put in between your 304 and a dana 300 .............. is that right?

It would sure help to know something about the tranny .... auto, 3 speed, 4 speed?

T-18 four speeds came in 78 Jeeps but not with the Dana 300
TH400 autos came in 78 waggies (most likely)

AMC 360 & 304 use the same bellhousing

Now your problem ............. the dana 300 TC didn't come in the 78 Waggie, most probably it came with a Quada Trac (standard with autos)
so you need an adaper to mount a Jeep Dana 300 to any 78 tranny.

And we don't know what has been swapped out in a Waggie that over 30 yrs old?

Better info and we can give you more help, good luck

If its a 727 auto trans it should be a bolt up.Need a skinny or 2 piece shaft.Assuming its going in a CJ

Yes thats for the 727 I really cant help on the Qtrac Tcase. And I believe the Turbo 400 was the only option behind it.

i think the quadra trac was only used on the turbo 400 tranny, i have seen dana 20 t-case used on turbo 400's

Ya my last cj7 had the 304, amc th400, Quadra trac combo. The year was 1977. IF you are dealing with the Quadra Trac stuff watch out for the spline count on the th400. Quadra Trac needs a different spline count form the trans output shaft then the model 20 and d300.

If you are going to use the 20 or d300 ( which are better built then the quadra trac) then change out the output shaft on the th400.

You may know this already so if you do then disregard. The AMC th400 is different then the GM th400 in the bellhousing area.

Any CJ trans from 80 to 86 will bolt to both, any others will need adapters.
