Subject: Americans For Forest Access Fence Removal Project
From: Eddie Phillips, AFFA Board Member
AFFA - Keeping Public Lands In Public Hands
We need your help with a strong showing!
Great News !!! AFFA has gotten approval from the Forest Service to remove many
miles of hazardous and ugly barbed wire fencing from our forest. Our first project is
along 3N03 near the Cactus Flats OHV area. The date is June 9th, 2001 at 9:00am.
Why remove barbed wire fences?
Barbed wire is a barrier to the natural movement of animals
Barbed wire can trap, maim and even kill large animals - like deer
Barbed wire can severely injure children
Barbed wire is designed to injure anyone or anything contacting it
Barbed wire can be a problem for fire fighting and emergency crews
Barbed wire is downright ugly and simply does not belong in the forest
Barbed wire was usually installed without valid reason or analysis
When is the project?
Saturday June 9th, 2001.
Camping available Friday Night June 8th at OHV staging area.
Camping available Saturday Night June 9th at OHV staging area.
Signup: Fri. Night 6/8/01 and Sat. Morning 6/9/01 at OHV staging area.
Where is the project area?
San Bernardino National Forest, Southern California
The Cactus Flats OHV area is our rendezvous and staging area.

the intersection with the graded dirt road, 3N03.
