I built another cage for a buddy and figured I'd share. It just needs paint and tied to the frame.

I'm assuming you're tacking your hoops and spreaders in place while it's in the vehicle and then pulling it out so you don't have to do out of position welding. Am I right? I've got my B hoop bent and I'm bending my A & C hoops tonight. I figured I'd just weld everything in place. Are your cages fitting back in correctly after you weld 'em up or are you getting some warpage and have to do some pushin and pullin to get it lined up correctly again.

Easy

I welded mine in place, wasn't too worried about interior damage :D

They fit just fine. It makes it easier to weld when it's out of the rig.
I can make good looking welds when I can get to it;) :D

Nice work, Syko. I wish I lived nearer to you. I am glad that you posted this as I am getting plans together to build a cage for my Scrambler project. The question I have is if you were building one from total scratch, ie not using the stock hoop, is it better to do three hoops running perpindicular to the frame rails with connectors running parallel to the frame or make two primary hoops parallel to the frame with the connectors running perpindicular. What I am saying is is it better to have two long tubes instead of the traditional ABC hoops? Does this make sense?

Scrambler?? I just built one for mine:D
Search for "bending finally" I posted a few pics.

I personally like the perpendicular hoops. The halo style if gusseted will do the same thing. (Note: I'm not a structural engineer so take it for what's worth) A bend is stronger then a weld and I like to lay mine on it's side so this dictated my design:D

Syko, is your junk going to be up and running in the month of December? It'd be nice to get a lil group of experienced fawk ups together and tear up some junk at the park or somewhere down south.

I have a buddy that lives in Phoenix and is moving back in November. Maybe you can talk him into pulling your rig out here and we could hook you up;) :D

Thanks everyone for the good comments:beers::D

FYI before someone says anything:
I personally would have liked to see some cross bracing but keith didn't want anything in the way of the back seat. I think this should work fine for an easy flop:D

I'm out in the barn most nights and probably all weekend. The barn's out behind the machine shop. Rose Grinding and Manufacturing 9600 Byers Rd. If you see a blue chevy sitting out there, I'm home :D
