I rotated my rear pinion up and re-welded the perches on. I did not check the housing flanges for parallel before I started, but now they are about 1/2 degree out of parallel. Is this any cause for concern? It seems to be very little, 3/16" difference front to back on 16" long angles clamped to the flanges. Does anyone know if they are perfect from the factory??

Thanks, I figured it would be okay. Just wish I'd checked it before. Hell, maybe I straightened it some. LOL

I've never done much welding on axle housing, but I have always wondered if warpage was an issue. I'm sure it can be in extreme cases. I have no idea about 1/2 degree.
I had a friend who owned a NASCAR team that ran in the Dash Series (4 cyl cars). He was was very concerned about his rear axle warping after the brackets were welded on. He had a jig with a dial indicator that he could check the warpage and try to get it straight again. I think it was an issue for him because his car was running 165 mph at Daytona.
