Do you have a close up pic of your rear bumper? Im interested in doing a round tube rear that ties into the exo, then down to the cross member to help support it side to side...

Negative, I did ramp it and found out i have some full tuck clearance issues by the bumperettes, thats getting remedied, after that it will be on the rocks... i dont want to wreck my new rubber till that stuff is figured out.

Heres a pic of the rear suspension set up with the tire off, I took it yesterday while at discount getting my tires balanced by my Bro in law.

Thought it was a cool pic. that shows the coil overs and sway bar set up.

I have a psc ram for it, I just haven't put it on yet... as for bars Im running rover tracks front and rear.

I'm setting my new hydro assist up now. Are you keeping the LR rod ends or going to heims? Which ram you running? I need to order one pronto. Keith shot me some "directions" and gave me a Prince part number, but I like the PSC stuff better.

This is what I'm considering...

Now I have to figure out how to get that sway bar set up on my Disco.

Truck looks great...

do u think this will be enough lateral support in a roll with speed? sure will be fine for a flop or slow roll, but if u go ass up in the desert do u think this will hold up? or your not concerned with that?

i understand u probably don't wanna cut into ure hard top.

Good question. right now its just good for a flop, which will be 80% of the wheelin. Im looking at doing a giant X from the top down through the rear then into the frame. that should tie it all in well with good cross support, i just haven't decided how to do it yet, i have a few ideas..

OK few more updates.. i got on my RA tube doors on, I got my daughters Prp seat mounted in the back, the mount will also have a integrated cooler holder on one side and a tie down system on the other for my tool bag.

I put my small bumper back on, Im gonna bend a bull bar for it.

And i got a 120 mile freeway trip on her, and man does she drive great at 70!

ok info on the cross bars what im gonna do is run a spreader on the exo at the b pillar that goes side to side along the top of the front tub bulkhead. Then im gonna hve another set of tubes bent the goes from the upper part of the exo b-pillar and it ill be bent around the back of the seat and down to the spreader bar. Then where those two diagnal seat bars meet the spready I will do two more bars that go down the the 90 at the tub where the fender well goes to the floor panel. now Under that will be a matching sadwiched plate that will have a tube that goes down to the frame outrigger that my sliders are in.. therefore tying the whole b pillar area of the cage to the frame... WOW thats confusing...!

head room not an issue, i have no roof, but leg room, angle of backrest and proximity of the round thing u hold onto. most of the fancy pants seats i've seen are deeper in the back then my paper thin rover one. of course u could remove the baulkhead to move the seat further back - but in my case the cage is there, and the headrest is already against the cage.

You gotta move the seat back. I can make you a steering wheel adapter that sinks the wheel 2 inches away from you if you like. I still have the cnc program for it. It's really important to have a good seat if you like to push things. Broken backs are no fun. But, those bulkheads are gay anyway. :flipoff2:

There's a reason I never use any form of allen head bolts, especially button heads, for skid plates.
If you even slightly damage an allen head bolt from, I don't know, maybe skidding on something? good luck on removing it.
I learned this lesson when I actually had to weld nuts to my cool looking button head screws to get them out.
No matter how beat up regular hex head bolts get, I've always been able to at least get them out with a vise grip.

I also never really got the whole thing with using high molecular poo on skid plates. A flat steel surface on hard rock has very little friction. Two hard surfaces against each other slide pretty easily.
Putting anything softer in it's place just allows the rock to dig into it which creates far more friction.

And steel diamond plate will always rock :flipoff2:

I learned this lesson when I actually had to weld nuts to my cool looking button head screws to get them out.
No matter how beat up regular hex head bolts get, I've always been able to at least get them out with a vise grip....

use carriage bolts and nut them from the back? we demand a change. :flipoff2:

Goes out this week for powder coat!

And one of Evalyn driving her high school rig :grinpimp:...

Edit* the wrap arounds on the bumper look long because i asked for them to be left unfinished, i cut them to the corner of the truck. ill post pics of that tomorrow...

The wheel base is dead nuts on 100 inches... And the rear crossmember really is just a flat plate of steel, no innerds left on it...

My favorite shots of that are these two.
The first shows my wife looking at the obstacle saying, "you're kidding, right?", as I walk back to the buggy.
It always reminds me of White Men Can't Jump when Wesley snipes tells Woody Harrelson, "Listen to the woman"

Those have a simple latch fitted (IIRC?),
but it should be very easy to use a Series handle.
