: Shop around, it pays!!!
HighHooder 09-16-2002, 10:25 AM I just bought some new tires for my 4Runner, initially I was going to buy some "blem" 33" x-terrains from 4wpw but the day after I placed my order they called to tell me that that size wasn't available. But they would sell me a set of regular x-terrains at regular price:rolleyes: no discount, no nothing. Nope, cancel my order.
So I then try the local 4wpw to see if they were willing to negotiate on the price. The answer I got from him was "we can adjust the price on everything but the pro-comp tires"
So now I'm thinking what other tire should I buy (DD/wheeler rig).
GloNDark suggested to check out Summit's website:eek: what a fawkin deal!!! They sell Pro-comp tires at what they SHOULD be sold for!!!
HighHooder 09-16-2002, 10:29 AM summit's price list...
HighHooder 09-16-2002, 10:31 AM and believe it or not 4wpw charges even more on their website than they do in their stores:shaking:
Rerard 09-16-2002, 10:38 AM What is shipping on those? Also does the 4wp price include mount/balance?
Im pretty sure 4wp doesnt, they are a rip off. But I know some shop's include everything except tax in their prices, so its something to check.
HighHooder 09-16-2002, 10:45 AM shipping was free from both places, it's the "other" charges that get ya. Funniest thing was that if I ordered 33" muds from summit there was a $10 added charge per tire for shipping (oversized charge) but with the 35" tires the charge was only $5:laughing: plus a $12 handling charge. 4wpw had free shipping, $25 handling charge and who knows what else. I wasn't looking for mounting and balancing.

I don't think that 4wp includes mounting and balancing in their price. They tend to gouge the customer at every turn possible.
Hell, I got some TSL's from them since they were the only place locally without special ordering them ($$$). I brought in brand new wheels to mount them on. They wanted to charge me a $10/tire "shop" fee. Since they wouldn't have to remove them from a vehicle and unmount old tires they waved it. Isn't that nice of them :flipoff2:
GloNDark 09-16-2002, 10:55 AM Don't you love the "Free Shipping" and oh yeah here is your $14.95 "handling" fee. What a joke. But still a killer deal on a set of tires. And you don't have to deal with 4WPW anymore. BONUS!!! :D:D:D
welndmn 09-16-2002, 11:22 AM Hey,
My friends that work @ 4wpw can still swing the buy 3 get one free deal with pro craps, 4WPW has the power over all procomp stuff, its bascily their brand
ukjeeper 09-16-2002, 11:25 AM I agree. Shopping around is well worth the time. I'm getting 1.5 RE SOA springs for $92 each instead of over $130 each!!

I beg to disagree.. i went around with my buddy looking for a 4" lift for his YJ, and 4wp wanted $350 for the basic skyjacker on their website, or $550 in the store.. so $1000 installed.. we laughed, asked about price matching, he told us we will never find a price lower than $550.. we laughted, then he ordered a RE 4.5" lift. Also, they wanted $480 for 2 front skyjacker lift springs for my power wagon. Fuck that. they really suck

Bigger Valves 09-17-2002, 08:23 AM are u sure you're not comparing xterrains from 4wpw to procomp mud terrains from summit?
I bought some from 4WPW last spring - 31x10.50 ProComp A/T's on 8" 589's for my DD 4Runner - got the 3+1free (as-if) deal and got all 4 tires/rims w lug nuts, mounted/balanced and centers delivered to my door for just over $700... Not too bad IMHO...

did you have a discount code by chance!
HighHooder 09-18-2002, 09:35 AM LMAO!!! "John" @ 4WPW just called me to see if I'd gotten any tires yet, seems he was going through some "canceled" orders and couldn't figure out why I didn't get a discount on regular tires:confused: I told him I was suprised that they just let a sale slip by like that too, and that neither their phone rep or the local sales rep at the store was willing to work with me on some tires. He said he was suprised too, because by looking at my customer record I've spent a "bit" of money with them and they should've thought twice before turning me down for a discount. I then told him that I had $600 to spend on tires. He then came down $20 per tire on first quality x-terrains, free shipping, no handling charges, and if I ordered right now it'd only cost me $600 to my door.:flipoff: "my tires are arriving this afternoon and it cost me less than $500 to my door from Summit, you guys messed up on this one:flipoff2:" He then went on to give me his extension number and told me that if I ever need anything to call him because he will beat anybody's price:rolleyes: Losers:shaking:
