I'm about to go ahead and chop the parts CJ I have and make a trailer from the back half. After seeing this thread (http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=568873) it seems like a neat idea to do. I have a few questions. How much frame is needed past where the body sits? I'd like to have a small truck box or something toward the tongue. Also since I'm a cheap bastard, would there be a problem with leaving the AMC 20 in the rear for the axle? (only initially this would eventually be changed) I don't see that it would have any less ground clearance than the CJ itself doing this. This will be an occasional use camping trailer, is a pintle hook arrangement necessary?
Any other suggestions or advice is welcome. I can't justify spending the $$$$ for a custom off-road trailer. But since I have everything needed to do this, including a 20 gal gas tank, spare tire carrier, and wheels to do it, why not??
