Hi all

I got an 8.25 on the bench (same as the one on my XJ) and I was thinking about doing a slider to protect the yoke. Similar to what Nth Degree offers

Then I got this idea. Why not combine the diff cover skid in the design as well. I plan to build it out of 1/4 plate, re-inforce near the yoke area, and attach it with u-bolts. Having the diff on the bench really helps. I will do an opening in both corners to let dirt escape.

What do you think ?

I would shave it some while you have it on the bench. You can take at least a 1/4" off before you even get near the bolt holes.

Thats a hellofalot work for an 8.25. Idea is great, but save it for an axle worth a chit.

You are loosing ALOT of clearance over a simple grind and shave/plate job without a lot of gain. Granted the 8.25 yoke is low and prone to damage. looks like an anchor.

8.25's suck. I broke 2 shafts, 2 yokes, a ring and pinion, and a set of spider gears on mine, STOCK open with 31" mud terrains.

X2 Throw that thing away. I like the design though.
