Okay, so according to IRC tracking, only four cars are in the game, and two have finished (as of 8PM MST).

Mathew Legg 4464 (finished)
Ben Napier 4461 (finished)
Jeff Knoll 4471 (on course)
Brandon Watson 4488 (on course)

What happened to the other 7 cars?

No, only 2 cars in the 4400. DSI just finished first in class in the 4471. 4435 is still on course. The others were DNF and were towed to tonapah.

On the edit- 4435 is still on course, but does not have working tracking

Are only 2 4400 cars starting tommorrow or are they making allowances?

All cars that were able to get fixed yesterday are going to be running today. You are allowed one DNF day. They will all be penalized by adding time to their overall time at the end of day 3.

Almost true... Vehicles had to be in impound by midnight last night. So if you couldn't get your car fixed and to impound by midnight, you're done for the weekend. (this applies to cars that DNF'd... Cars that finished only had one hour before they were placed in impound.)

Trying to find out right now who DID'NT make impound.

Can't rely on the tracking to figure that one out either: it's still got 4405 at day 1 start, and I know he is in impound.

Not the 5th???!! :flipoff2:

Besides, it's rediculous to compare an unlimited car to a very limited spec car.

Rediculous, but still fun.

You are bragging about beating a unibody station wagon?

Hey everyone, they can beat a 4500lb car with 220hp and 10" of wheel travel. That is kewl.

Very fun race to try and cover. Charlene was back with the 4400s and I was up front with the UTVs. By the end of the day, I was typically seeing a few 4400s catch up. Day three was really tough to cover many pits because they were often much farther on the road than on the race course.

Pretty frustrating without enough cell service to send photos with the iPhone in several places, but we managed. My iPhone was smoking hot out there in the heat and actually locked up for all of the second day until I got back to camp. That was a bummer. Definitely chewed through the battery real fast too.

Real tough to dump the normal camera into the computer and send that way. There just wasn't enough wireless out there to handle all what we needed to do or even just making a phone call in Hawthorne. All the off-roaders just overwhelmed the service.

I am convinced that Pirate4x4 needs a full on off-road chase truck with satellite and wireless. :smokin: The possibilities are endless at that point.

One more thing....Charlene rocks. That girl is tireless.

Sorry I missed you, heard you wished us luck.:) As for your friends jealousy??? My own father has been wearing triple nickle shirts and carrying his beer in a 4406 coozie. But it didn't bother me at all. Maybe your on the wrong team?:laughing:

What about the 3700 class? Those are Jeepspeeds too... That would make camo the winner of the bet.

Slap a set of one ton axles under the 3700 cars and then we can compare them to the 4400s.:shaking:

As I searched around the net to watch and follow the race, the coverage here was hands down the best. And you you are suggesting a "full off-road" chase truck with a satellite...

the little guys won't have chance at all. :D

Great coverage and Charlene did rock it, pimping the 4400s on RDC early last week and in the field for the race.:)

ah yes, but the jeepspeeds did not have to start at the back of the pack each day like we did in 4400.
Jeepspeeds got to work forward we started at the back each day.

The bet was with Camo, He said no way would a 4400 beat the Jeepspeeds. Honestly I partly agreed with him. A proven desert class against a first time class, the advantage was with the Jeepspeeds. I am impressed with every Ultra 4 car. We just dont give up.

So as far as impressed with beating a unibody, it was the wranglers that were fast not the grocery getters. :flipoff2:

Or we can strap your front to 10" and your rear to 12". That might be a little easier.

Question - is there anything in the rules that keeps you from running a lighter axle and smaller tire in the desert races?

oh, and FYI DiesleSJ, the U4's did beat the 3700's overall too ;)

Yep, saw that in the results. Thought for sure that the 3700 would have finished higher than that.

nope. as long as it is functioning in 4wd, with a 2 speed transfer case. my limiting factor? my wallet. I asked permission, it said NO!

As far as us running 39's, i owned 6 used ones when we put the team together, so when getting fresh ones, we got more of the same size. 37's would have been nice, but on the scale, the tire weight was 9# difference. 18# in the overall scheme of thing's isn't a huge difference.
