How big of a job is it to do the front fork seals on an 86 kdx 200. This is my first bike and I am need to get my feet wet.

It's real easy. The hard part is removing the old seal without damaging it too much, cause you will probably use the old seal to install the new one. The right sized pipe can make installation super easy. Don't forget to replace the dust seal.

I woud'nt really worry to much about saving the old seal, but somtimes the trickiest part is loosening the bottom frok bolt, cause the spring tends to just spin.

The trick is to use an impact driver and compress the spring at the same time to keep it from spinning. A broom stick can help you out a great deal.

I'm gonna change the seals on my 84 XL250 next weekend to. Can't wait!

DON'T use Kawi fork oil. It sucks, use a quality oil in there, since ya don't want to be swapping it all that much.

check the slider bushings when you have it apart. if they are worn out and you only change the seals the forks will leak again.

i take the forks apart with an impact to. the only thing i would say is to make sure that you don't use some monster double hammer impact that will strip it out.

write down everything you did. oil height, oil weight, and spring preload. this way when you want to adjust your suspention you will have a starting point.:p
