im got a 74 bronco. im building it into a crawler with the options of running down to the beer store or fuel. drive from trail to trail. im in the process of putting in af uel injected 302. im building a front 60 and want to run a 60 in the rear as well. both will be running 410s and welded front and detroit rear. id like to stay with that combo so id be interested to see what t cases you guys are running. thinkin about a doubler but dont know to much about the setups for the fords. this is one of the first ford builds i will be doing.
what are the common options for them.
stock dana 20 in it now. is there another option that will give me a descent crawl ratio? or should i throw in a lowmax 205 twin sticked?
should i ditch the c4 and look for a c6/205 combo?

The 20 aint bad. I run one. Cheap and stout enough in most applications.
Stack 3 spd if you wanna throw cash at it.
I'm a manual guy so I think you should ditch the c4 :-)
Since this is your first EB, ya may want to head over to Classicbroncos.com & do some reading.

if done some reading there but it seems most are geared towards restoring them nstead of tubing them out and wheelin. a few but not many. the reason i stick with a auto is for the girl. she cannt wheel a stick.

You planning on running 33's or 35's with those 4.10 gears? Neither size is a reason to go to D60's. :shaking:

I have 5.38's and a C4/Dana 20 combo right now. I also have a 3.8 Atlas, I just gotta get time to install it.
In my opinion if you want to stay with 4.10's and run 42's you need to do something. I would either upgrade your Dana 20 with some Tera-Low gears and an HD output shaft or just get an Atlas or Stak.
I had a C6/NP 203/205 (Off-Road Design) set up in my 77 F-150 and it worked great, but I also had a lot longer wheelbase to work with. I think you might start running out of room with that same set up in an EB unless you stretch the wheelbase.
Like Rockit said, check out ClassicBroncos.com. I think if you spend a little more time there, you'll find a lot of good info on this subject.

i have been searching for the best gearing combo. as id still like to drive it once and a while around town. a different t case isnt to far out of the question but the funds wont allow it at the time. this is being built on a budget so i may just have to put gears in the 20. from what im understanding the dana 20 is a pretty stout case. is there a twin stick option.
another idea i had was the lomax 205 twin sticked. how would that work out?
it will be stretch a little but not alot. not sure on numbers yet. im looking to get the plans in order first before i start other wise it will be to wild and get nothing done.

Twin stick is common for dana 20, I got one for mine from JB fab, nice piece at a good price.
Is the lomax 205 available in a ford version now? I thought it was only gm.
Why a 60 rear? I'd consider a 14 bolt, dana 70 or sterling before a 60 rear(unless you happen to have a 35 spline version laying around.
I've got 35s with 4.10s, you will be able to go a lot deeper with 42s, with a efi 302 you'll want more gear.

ill look into the the dana 20 twin stick then....... damn i thought it was. i read te site wrong. it really doesnt matter to me what side the diff is on since im building the front 60 anyhow. i can make it on either side. im thinkin the rear for the fact they are everywhere with 410s aready in them. ive ran tons of 14 bolts before and its not out of the question. the sterling axle is worth what its weight in scrap is to me. how ever i do have one. i wheeled my last truck with 44 tsls on a 60 rear and it was fine being welded.
i also locked a deal today for a 96 5.8 with all wiring for 300 that may make its way into the truck.
