I have seen posts on the subject of lube for the enclosed knuckle differential that indicate theres a "one time grease" for the frt knuckle. Is this the case? and if so could I put this grease in a Toyota or a old school domestic rig ? That would be great because I do not particulialy enjoy packing wheel bearings if I could just put some lube in thier that lasts.

its not one time, just one shot, meaning that the package is easy to dump in there in one shot...

Just fill the ball half way with 90wt. Helps you determine the condition of your swivel seals.

It was done to get Soccer moms to quit bitching about grease stains on their driveways.

I seriously doubt that anyone who is a regular of this forum is user, nor proponent of its use.

Lazy people who do not maintain their vehicles use one-shot grease. The rest of us buy 90 wt in five-gallon pails of 55-gallon drums.

And 10w40 in pails. the leaks prevent neglect, you have to fill and inspect things regularly when they leak.

Front Aksel Swivel Fett
"One-Shot" GENUINE Swivel Housing Grease. A semi-fluid grease which lubricates drive shaft joints, swivel pins, housing seals and protects the swivel spheres. Reinforced with solid lubricants, highly resistant to water & salt corrossion. Provides better lubrication than EP90 oil when driving, less leaks while standing. One shot packet gives "filled for life" protection. The price is for one packet and is enough for one swivel.

I wonder if his moniker reflects a past gender change.

I like the one shot grease. But I don't use it in anything I take wading.

I don't know what he is. He wants to use One-shot in wheel bearings, not swivel housings. It's not even made for wheel bearings and would probably break down rapidly.

dont the yota guys mix 90wt and grease in the swivels?

In the past, some people were advocating using a a grease sold at John Deere dealers called "Corn Head" grease. It seems to be the same stuff and comes in a similar style package and is much cheaper.

I've been down this road already re: use in Toyota swivels. It won't work, believe it or not rover swivels actually have better seals that will hold oil. You still need to pack toyota LC birfs.

The grease they use in Snapper lawnmower transmissions is also about the same stuff....but I agree with the rest....stick with 90 wt.....if you're leaking too bad, seals aren't that expensive, just cut 'em and put them on with the cut at the top and use some good ultra black rtv to seal the cut....only takes about 10 minutes per side....

hey thought I would share...

I have used one shot I have used 90weight, 140wt yada yada yada.

what i have been using of late is high performance CV grease from napa.

CV Joint Grease, 4.0 oz Packet

Front
Part: CVB 6863000
Product Line: NAPA high performance CV grease

Price
Unit
:
:
2.29
Each

the stuff comes in handy pouches that dont pop in a trail pack and they also allow you to squeeze it in through the knuckle hole if you like.

I hand pack the CV with it before install and then add one pack through the fill hole and call it a day.

I havent had any leakage at all with it and when you open the swivel there is alot less mess.

Yeah Thom, but we all know you're just a soccer dad who complains about grease spots on your driveway.
