If one were to run a 2bbl Holley on his 2F would one have to make any mods on the carb right out of the box? (excluding linkage, air cleaner, and intake adapter) Thanks

jet it wayyyy down. It has been my experience that holleys are all designed for racers that use fuel craving motors. It will most likely run wayyy rich out of the box.

I had one and spent a ton of money on every "Off Road" modification that Downey sells and it still flooded out when I rolled up the curve in front of my house.

I took it off, threw it in the bushes and then threw rocks after it.

On the other hand the only one I have EVER seen work off road is JasonM's on this board. It never faltered on him in Moab....even stayed running going up the waterfall at Upper Helldorado.

:)

Did I mention that it is for sale right now ;)

The mods that you will make are an extended breather,, extended vent and side hung float. Plus some slight tweaking.
I have always liked the holley. Don't know why everyone hates them...

:D

Geez Nolen... You got mad that your engine was flooded after you rolled? Like, uh, were you surprised?

I already have one, just deciding if I want to use it. Thanks for the info.

Cool, I would use it.

Like I said, you really want a side hung float bowl, springloaded needle and seat and the proper vent tube.

Right out of the box it will probably run fairly rich. Altering the jets will help that.

Mine always ran a bit wierd. Good power, a slight hestitation around corners if I floored it. But would pass emissions like a 90's honda. Confused the hell out of me.

PM me if you have any specific questions..

Why???

You going to swap it on the trail???

The only reason I am selling the holley I have is because I am now running propane and need a 4 barrell.

Exactly the same.
F or 2F are almost identical..

Hey..Jason!..Whats up?...Finally got the pulley and Alt. bracket ordered...( Mudrak )...Should be here this week some time....So this propane set-up your going with?..What are the advanteges, if any, over FI?...Did that Holley give you a a big power gain or just better operation on angles?...Tell me more and how much your looking for the set up!...My buddy finally got his big block...Get this....92 TBI 454 with all accessorys and brackets...50,000 miles...picked it up for $600 including the 2 wheel drive 5 speed tranny!!...DAMN..Right place at the right time with the right amount of cash!...So as soon as he build this ...He is going to sell me his 220 horse TBI 4.3!...I think a second job will pay for everything!

Yes and no, depends a lot of the carb. You can get a Weber 38/38 on a 2F and it will run pretty good (but with god aweful milage). A 38/38 on a F is a disaster, sputters and runs like crap and I've tried it on two different F motors. F's HP is somewhere around 110, a 2F is around 130. 2F with headers can swallow up a whole lot of carb but the F seems to struggle more often.

Just beating my head against the wall at work and on the cruiser..

The propane setup that I am running has the advantages of being dirt ass simple, and will truly run at any angle. If the fuel pickup sucks air the FI will go toes up. And if the computer gets air in it you are stuck too. Propane will not have either of those troubles..

Good deal on the 454!!!
hopefully he swings the savings on to you with the 4.3. :)

I got a bunch more power and never really compared the previous carb to the holley.

I think I was asking like $150 or something like that for everything but linkage. (even the cool aluminum Downey air cleaner)

But I am very flexable...
