Awright, looking to use my AK for whitetail hunting this year. I'm having a trouble finding any good comparisons/advice on which cartridge type might be best. My consistent ammo I put through the gun is the Wolf 122gr FMJ - so the gun is set up and sighted for that and pretty damn accurate. I was hoping to get something very similar, so I don't have to resight, etc.

1. Soft Point - Looking at some of the "premium" brands (Federal, Winchester, etc.). Sportsmans Guide has the Federal Powr-Shok 123 grain in 20 round boxes for $21.

2. Hollow Point - Sportsmans Guide has the "Wolf Classic Military" in 124 gr for about $70 per 240 rounds.

Obviously, I'd prefer more ammo for cheaper:D. But don't want crappy ammo. Any one use the Wolf Classic mentioned above - accurate or crap?

Reccomendations?

Don't mean to be a pain in the ass :flipoff2:, but my work filter won't let me go to any of the cool "gun" sights:mad3:

Could you let me know what type and why?:homer:

It is:

Winchester Super-X Ammunition 7.62x39mm Russian 123 Grain Soft Point Box of 20

PN: X76239

This has been tested by experts (fackler and roberts) and has very good terminal performance. The testing I've done has shown it is very accurate and repeatable out to 100yds out of my rifle.

Perfect bro:beer:, exactly the sort of info I was looking for - I appreciate it. Anyone else with a good round?

The WOlf 154 gr soft points are supposed to work on deer.

I am contemplating pulling bullets on loaded ammo, and replacing them with bullets of known quality.

In my experience the Wolf SP ammo expands very uniformly and predictably. I would not hesitate to use it on deer.
