Ok, i just got my 5.3L :smokin: in my jeep with a 80's TH400 behind it. the TH400 came stock with a 205 but it has the long output shaft. its around 4.5" past the back of the case. not good for an atlas right?

now my question is, after reading bill's atlas to TH400 page, where do i get a different output? i guess i need to buy the super short one that goes behind a 203 and the stock 203 adpater? where would one get these parts? also, how hard is it to swap out the shafts?

Thanks

Can you cut the output shaft to the length you need? I talked to stak about this and they said some could be cut down. I think the length needed for a stak with there adapter is 1 1/4". I dont know if atlas is the same or not. I do believe you have to disassemble the entire trans to replace that shaft?

I have a similar setup. One call to Advanced Adapters is all it took. I have a 2wd th400 with the long output and was able to get an adapter that did not require me to change the th400 output. The adapter is longer than the short style output but I have enough wheelbase to make it a non issue.

AA has an adapter on there website that looks like it is made for the long output 4wd TH400 that is about 4.5" long. i guess they also use it for some 2wd to atlas adapters. adapter 51-6400
