Lookin to upgrade from the PAID for 99 4x4 5 SPEED CTD quad cab short bed.

Lookin to go to 06 Mega Cab Dually Laramie 4x4, Leather, Navigation, Moonroof, Sprayin liner, Nerf Bars, Click/slide and lock bed cover, DVD, Blue tooth, new tires, blah blah blah. Now for the part that kinda concerns me. 87k w/AUTO and a Edge 6 stage w/monitor and cold air intake. Old man owned since new and all he pulls is bass boat. He says he has never turned programer up and just leaves it on 3. Very clean truck. Asking Price $28,500

Questions:
Will tranny be allright with programmer and many more miles?
Any fuel system concerns like on current tow pig?
Worth the money or not?
Other problems with make/model that I haven't found in research?

Keep the truck you have, give half the money you were going to spend on the new one to me, and we are both financially ahead.

I want to do the exact same thing, I'm out growing my 02' QC SB 6speed and really want a full 4-doors, But my truck has so much money in modifications done to it I can justify selling it

Questions:
Will tranny be allright with programmer and many more miles?Maybe, I guess it depends if you believe him about were he left the programmer, but you can get a Goerend TC and VB for $1500, right now from Brown's Diesel
Any fuel system concerns like on current tow pig? The stock fuel filter sucks, upgrade to a 2 micron and youll be fine, but no worries on killing it like vp and early CR trucks
Worth the money or not? NO, I just sold my 06 for 27k w/ 40k miles and it dyno'd 650hp
Other problems with make/model that I haven't found in research?Injectors, running shitty diesel or w/out additives the injectors wear quick and could possibly melt the engine, also 04.5-07 CRs run extremely high rail PSI, which again is terrible for the injectors. IMO check the injectors run a aftermarket filter and run either 2stoke oil w/ the diesel or bio-diesel, the injectors and injection pump will love you for it, and it makes the truck run 100% smoother and get better MPG Again that price is stupid high, look around there are much better deals out there.

gotta disagree with all of that.
I'm at 217k on my 05 that's bone stock. I'd still have the original injectors and CP3. If I hadn't backed it in the lake and gotten a tank full of water.

I wouldn't get a mega simply because the bed is too small. If you can live with a tiny bed, do what you want. I agree, that price sounds way high for a 3 yr old truck with those miles.

Thnks for all the input guys, all are valid points. I thought the price was a little high also. I may offer 25k, and see what happens.

Mega Cab has the same size as a QC short bed.

Where for alot cheaper, I am looking in a pretty broad area. Everything I find with less miles is 30+. OUCH!!:mad3:

Yup, that is too short for me too. I don't know about the OP, but a shortbed is useless to me.

Check out auto trader, craigslist, autodirect.com (i think that is the right website), etc.

You can find a used diesel dodge or ford DRW, CC, LB for less than what you are looking.

When searching, use broad terms rather than mileage limits so you search nationwide. Fuel is cheap when compared to purchase price and savings.
