hey my dad has a 05 xr 650 and he has been having problems with it overheating it is oil/air cooled and i know very little about how those cooling systems work does anybody know what could cause it to overheat

make sure you have oil pressure.

check the carbs, it is probably running lean. they may be dirty or it might need to be rejetted from the new 10% ethanol fuel we have.

So its a XR650L .......

those were jetted lean from the factory and then when you toss the stock exhaust it gets even leaner


It needs to be rejetted.


I have one, it's been rejetted and no problems....... I live in Phoenix so I know hot :mad3:
