Fuck Earl's! They're just down the road in Indy and I'd rather go to my local hydraulic supplier than deal with those dickheads.
I build all manner of pneumatic, hydraulic, etc assemblies and everytime I call Earl's they either don't want to help build what I need, or they berate what I'm trying to do to sell me what they have. When I call my local hydraulic shop, they either sell me what I want or sell me the material to build what I want.
Earl's has a big name but a lot of assholes working for them.

I have heard the same thing, I get most of our stuff at Industrial hydraulics, TFE inc, and Masthead

I think that the problem with the Indianapolis store is that they think that since they supply all of the Indy cars, their shit don't stink and if you suggest a fitting that they don't stock/make/sell, it is junk. I didn't spend nine years in college and 19 years working as an engineer to be told I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to plumbing engineering.
hoseandfittings.com is my local hydraulic supplier and if they can't get it, they can find the stock for them/me to make what I need. They have an in-house fabrication shop and do some really cool stuff-they make the simulated suicide bomb vest for the military to train with, among other cool stuff they do.
I used to use TFE until the Geyers sold the company and the folks who own it now will send me Christmas cards, but won't talk to me on the phone when their fab guys put together fittings that leak and catch vehicles on fire. I spent a LOT of $ with Transmission and Fluid Equipment, but when your employees do shoddy work and you won't return phone calls, fawk you!
