First post - What is the best way to weld the axle tubes to the housing on the Ford 8.8 (1997 model) :confused:? Is the housing cast iron or cast steel? Is preheat required and if yes, how much? Should the internals (e.g., bearings) be removed prior to welding? Stick weld with nickel rod or MIG? I have read and heard lots of conflicting info and would like the advice of an experience fabricator. Thanks!
