: My Illusive Vibration still plagues me

Had a vibration that sets in at about 60mph and comes and goes as I'm driving.

I can't tell where its coming from. There is no wheel shake. Can just feel it in the truck and watch my seats and center console shake. The rythm is consistent with wheel speeds so I've been focusing on rotating parts. I don't think its a drive line issue. That would be a much faster vibration I think and I have a brand new Tom Woods.

On the front D60, I've got new rubber (BFG K2 MTs) balanced and dynabeads. The tires are true and the vibes don't change at all when I rotate the tires so I don't thing that's the problem. The vibes do get more noticeable with higher inflation so its got to be wheel related.

Yesterday, did the kingpin rebuild, and replaced the rotors and calipers (rotors were warped and I thought that might be causing something). I did the normal bearing maintenance and inspected those. The hubs spin true on their spindles.

I guess it could be coming from the rear. The only thing I can think of back there is a "out of round" drum. I can't imagine one of those CUCV drums getting warped but nothing will surprise me now. If it was warped, I would think that the truck would still lurch when braking like it did before I replaced the rotors.

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like you know the answer.....concentrate on the wheels and tires....
my only question is ,why externally balanced and dynabeads?

I'm pretty sure the Dynabead website said to leave weights on the wheel if it had been balanced already then just ad the beads. Maybe I read that wrong. I'll go do my homework.

The only rotating part I've yet to change is the rear drums and the hubs themselves. It can't be the hubs. I guess it could be but how in the hell would a hub get out of balance or out of true? Another thought is that its a leaf spring resonating. Ever had anything like that? what would fix it?

I would find a truck with same bolt pattern, and about same size tires, that
doesn't vibrate, bolt them on your rig, and drive. If vibration is not resolved,
problem is still in truck.

I did that with my Duramax and I think the vibes went away. Its hard to tell in a rig that rides sloppy anyway. It may have gone away or it may have been less drastic becuase of such a reduction in unsprung weight. All that to say, I don't think it went away because the tires were out of balance. I think it went away mostly because the tires were half the size. What I really need is to find someone with 37s that ride smooth and try those on. My hunch is it will not fix the problem becuase this is the second set of 37s I've had on the rig and the vibration is the same as it has always been.

I was just thinking of something else. The vibration was there when I lifted the truck but still had the 10 bolts under it. So, it stands to reason that its not the axles. I'm really thinking its a spring hopping becasue of some sort of resonation. I just can't think of a way to test my theory.
