Top and bottom!

I figure I will have trouble filling just a bottom chest.

Thats the exact box I've been saving pennies for. Did you get a good deal?

Not too bad of one. I emptied a 56"x24" deep international box, and a 36"x16" Craftsman box into this one, plus some tools that never had a home. I still have 10 drawers 100% empty, and many others are only half full. I easily could have fit everything in the bottom and had room to spare. I figure this is the "death box". I've had 6 toolboxes at home in 6 years.:shaking: I put an end to that shit.

It says Montezuma on the box. Don't know where he got it, but these guys have the best prices I've seen on them.

How do you like the quality of the Montezuma box?

LOVE IT. I was quite surprised to see how good it was. I bought it and picked it up sight unseen. This is serial #1 of a new style. Higher quality than my Craftsman Pro by a long shot, and certainly no weaker than a snap on. Yeah, I said it. The bullnose on the drawer fronts, the side of the drawer angles out 90* at the top, stiffeners underneath the wide drawers...when you remove the from the slides, you can't hardly twist the drawer.

Yeah, I want one to replace my C-Pro at work now. That won't happen for a long time, though.

What do you people do that you can afford/need a box like that at home?

Work on my own stuff? I'm a mechanic at work, and like to tinker at home. No wife, no kids, no worries.

Are you tall enough to see in the top drawers?

Barely, I have to stand on tiptoes.:emb2: The box is 30" deep, 72" wide, and 70" high, and I'm 6'.

I'm doing a review on the box for the manufacturer one I get my garage rearranged and find a home for everything that moved to get this in. I'll post up the link to it here when I do.

All in all, I'm tickled pink with this thing.

I wanted a newer box and my Snap-On man just got in a lightly used (body shop) 75th anniversary three bay with the add-on locker, hutch and intermediate cabinet as well. He made me a great deal and I damned near shook his hand on it.

The next day, I picked up three D60s setup to bolt into Land Rovers...

The Snap-On man called on Monday and I had to tell him I had to back out. I rearanged my shop, put my two good cabinets side by side and began organizing. To my surprise, I think that I might have found a much better solution and it only cost me the $800 I had invested over the past several years.

But oh man, I want a newer box so badly! I hate you Nissan Crawler :flipoff2:

BTW-I could fill that fucker in less than a day just by emptying the two roller cbainets, three top chests and not even start on moving my machinist tools!

I've got a 75th anniversary box from Snap On, but it is only a two bank cab with a locker. Its the perfect colour for working on Rovers! The pic is from before I bought it, I don't work on minivans:flipoff2:

The one I'm trying not to buy has the hutch, a small intermediate box in the hutch, two side cabinets, one with drawers, one with one door and concealed drawers and on the opposite side, a closet like yours. IIRC, it was 124" long:eek:

It was red, not as blingin' as yours:flipoff2:

I would really, really like a long deep top drawer!

I've had my 72" Montezuma cabinet since this spring and absolutely love it. Its the older style but built just as heavy, only thing they changed was the drawer layout. I found an awesome deal on the older model cause the guy was sittin on the stock and had to make room for the new models. People are amazed when I step my 315lb ass into the bottom drawer with it fully extended and then tell them to push it shut.

And it really isnt fare to compare it to the Crapsman Pro.......there is no comparison in the two!

Don't let the other guy who just spent $1k more and gave away his existing box away for a smaller snap-on see this thread, I already warned him :flipoff2:

Someday maybe I will have enough crap to fill one of those babys :p

FWIW - I can get the Monetzuma boxes, and wholesale price is not much less than what those guys sell them for.. so its a darn good price and probably even less hassle for me to order from them!

... no weaker than a snap on.

Because it IS a Snap On. They manufacturer two lines for Snap On at their Canadian plant. Just an FYI. You did well, save some chump, and didn't de-value the garage with an over priced Snap On box...did I mention they buy their boxes.:D

Well, this isn't. These are made in China. Some of them are made in Canada, yes. However, the quality sure isn't lacking, and after looking at a new $8,000 Snap-On box at work that's the length of my lower, and 6" shorter and shallower, I don't see where you get much for twice the price.

Here's a full review on them I just did, if anybody cares:

I saw that thread...I thought the same, but was keeping my mouth shut. Yeah, a Snap-On will probably hold more value, but when you're paying twice as much for half the box to start with, it's not saving you anything in the long run.

I got a bit of a deal due to this being the first bottom box of its style, getting it sight unseen, and doing a review. My box will be the one on the website. Montezuma was taking pictures of it before I picked it up.:D

It's well worth every bit of the $4750.

Like you said, this is the box that once you get it, you're done. I've had 6 toolboxes in the 6 years I've owned my house. That gets old.

I also bought mine sight unseen.....went off of the recommendation from a friend who is a shop foreman for a large John Deere dealer. He has worked for several years out of a Mac box and said when it finally falls apart he will be switching to a Montezuma....that was good enough for me!

I wanted a box that would last me a lifetime....i didnt really care about the name for resale purposes.

Unloading is easy...just take the tractor and loader with the pallet forks on it and set it out of the freight truck and right into the shop....might be a problem for the city boys :D

The KRA is made in China and the KRL is made in Canada. My point was the Snap On box isn't made in America. Although my laptop is made over seas my vehicles are not, my cell phone over seas my toolbox not, you get the jist. You've put way too much time into this as have I. Again, nice box, nice savings, wish you could have bought American.

Brian Shirley (xrra racer, caddishack on here) sells montezuma as well. My race partner just bought this one from him for trailer

Its badass being portable. He actually took a red wagon with the big pneumatic tires and took the trucks off the bottom and put them on the box so you have a wagon handle to pull them around on. :smokin:

Seen that, not sure how much has to be manufacturered/assembled here to qaulify. Let's just say I'm associates with a gent that recently left Snap On, purchasing dept to b specific. The information I have is as reliable as I can get. Never-the-less, it's a good box. I just know that Matco owns their manufacturing plant in New York where they manufacture their boxes from raw steel. Also a good box. It's only my opinion that it's better than Snap On. Buying American, when possible, is important to our economy. Also an opinion.
