Is there anyone out there that has successfully swapped out the three speed FMX transmission for a four speed one. I'm not happy with the highway driving right now. I'm on a pension and would like a simple fix. What do you have for me? I'm all ears!

It's a C6 you have, not an FMX. They stopped production in 1981-82 and didn't come in 4 wheel drive configurations.

This a retarded newbie post, but I am feeling charitable today. You are looking to swap in an AOD, AOD-E, E4OD or 4R70W overdrive transmissions, even though you can't word your question for shit.

Each have their advantages and disadvantages as far as cost, reliability, ease of swapping, power capacity, etc... It's up to you to search and find out what works best for you.

P.S. Hollister Hills sucks.

if computers and wiring your truck scare you ignore the E4od and the 4R70w.

also stop listen to the person who told you the truck has an FMX tranny.

manual swap is the only way to get an overdrive without computers or fab work.

I'll be charitable too. Keep your FMXC6AODQWERTY transmission. Since you are on a budget, I guess the best thing to do is put bigger tires on it. Grab your sawzall and cut the fenders, bolt some 38's to it. That should get you to cover more ground with less RPM.

I'm much better with F-18c Hornet single seat twin mounted GE 400 turbo jet engines. 32,000 lbs of torque thurst for all you 4x4 freaks and your soft talk of power and torque. top speed of Mach 1.8+ and I've had the honor to fly it as well. Anyone? Anyone?

Desert Storm lasted 100 hours, unless you do Gilligan's Island-length tours, I don't see how 3 tours are possible in that timeframe.

As for your Lil-Red. Isn't there (or wasn't there at one point in history) a way to add an OD case to the back or your t-case? I'd imagine that'd be easier and cheaper then swapping in a whole new tranny. Sorry, don't have specs on them. Just remember grandpa talking about them back in the day. Something else to consider.
