Hello
I need to upgrade my steering.
Volvo portals, 38,5-14,5-15 TSL-SX and stock steering :mad3:

I am hinking hydro assist, but may go full hydro. The main point in that would be reducing panhard rod wear. A friend has been running his portalled rig a LOT more than me and after the third or fourth change on panhard rod bushings he went full hyro and has not looked back... They toy at 3:10 in the youtube linked below.

Anyways, I have one ZF-pump of a BMW.

I have one saginaw "P"? from a SAAB900

And finally one Saginaw P remote reservoir from a chevy van 89-ish

Judging from the residual oil the van pump is in the worst shape wile the other two seems decent.

Since I also run a milemarker winch I'm looking for maximum pressure and flow.
I have read about the mods for the Saginaws, is that the best option or can the same kind of results be reached with the ZF?

The ZF seems easier to install and I'd like to keep the remote reservoir, and install a larger volume one.

the saginaw pump with the integrated reservoir wont hold enough fluid for hydro assist. but the pump should fit into the remote reservoir housing you have. Saginaw pumps are the easiest pumps to find in North America. every Auto parts store and scrapyard from Alaska to Mexico will have one, I dont know how common they are in scandinavia though.

SAAB 900s are common enough and is the donor of the integrated reservoir pump I have.
How do I move the pump from body to body?

2 bolts on the back of the tuna can I believe. havent taken one apart in years dont remember. they rarely fail. dont know about fluids compatibility. Power steering fluid for the saginaw pump or ATF for the rover steering box, Will this cause a problem? anybody know?

power steering fluid is what you will want to use with this combo.
