Looking at plasma cutters. LWS is giving me a trade-in of my old, plus has fairly good pricing (2 of the 3 beat cyberweld.com by a few bucks).

Anyway, looking at the Miller 375, Miller 375 X-treme, and Hypertherm Powermax 30. The 1st 375 is transformer, other 2 are inverter.

Which one would you pick, and why??

Hypertherm

Why you ask past performance, great rep in this area Pat Belsole

This is kind of like when Smith&Wesson started making automatics would you buy theirs or a Colt.

Miller makes great welders I own several but just doesn`t quite have the plasma dialed in at this time.:shaking:

I have a 375 extreme and I think it you are a hobbist that is cutting .250 and down it is a great tool.

This thing has been so easy on consumables that I dont know how you could get much better life out of them at all.

I bought a Hypertherm Powermax 30 a few months ago and I LOVE it. No doubt I'd choose it over the Millers. Easily cut 3/8" and down which is realistically the range I needed it for.

Go with the 30.

consumables last very long on my miller 375 too. the normal 375 has longer leads, an internal water separator and a larger body. to me the larger body means more inside for cooling the unit. i know the 375 will take 200V or 115V, not sure about the extreme. no complaints about my 375

i use a lincoln pro cut 80 or 90 at work. it cuts quite a bit less than what its rated for and burns through consumables like arc welding rod. i hate it and would rather use a torch.

I've been happy with my hypertherms... while I don't have that model I can say their customer service is TOP NOTCH! If you have a problem or question you can actually talk to a TECH not someone from India reading the same manual :shaking:
