you would have to get a bellhousing for a smallblock. the 400m pattern is the same as a 460 BB

hey just my luck... i figured id have to swap it out... i have never seen a NP435 mated to a "small block" and ive not been good at searching apparently.. how much would a bellhousing cost for that thing.. and other than that will it work?

The pilot should be the same, along with the input spline of 1 1/16 x 10 spline. The bellhousing off of any SBF-equipped Ford truck will work.

NP435s came behind small block Fords all the time. Bellhousings are an easy piece to located, you can even buy them aftermarket if you can't find a used one!

ha.. looks like i need to head to pull apart... the only late 70s trucks ive seen had them 400Ms in them... did the NP435 come in the 80s trucks?

Any truck 300 or 302/W 3 or 4 speed bellhousing will work.
They're pretty easy to find.

Yes
Make sure you get the proper flywheel, truck bell needs a 164 tooth, 5.0 is 50 oz imbalance, one for a mid eighties 5.0 truck will work, one from a 351w(5.8) will not, wrong imbalance

you can use the bell housing off of a t5 from behind the 5.0, using the 5.0 flywheel, clutch, starter and clutch fork

Look for two wheel drive trucks more of those were small blocks back in the day.
