I have a 1994 Chevy 350 pickup with a tbi with a blown motor and I have a 1998 chevy suburban with vortec and wiring harness. My question is how hard would it be to swap over to the vortec wiring harness and all? has any one done it or know of any one thats done it?

you need a vortec carb intake with a TBI adapter or a special Vortec TBI manifold from GM parts
Your TBI manifol has 12 bolts
Vortec intakes have 8 bolts
you also will need a melonized distributor gear
need bigger injectors or more fuel psi
a custom tuned prom chip

or you could look about 6 posts down and see the same exact thing you just posted?

I would prefer to keep the vortec fuel injection that if it's not to compacted tbi is nice, but I was hoping to keep the vortec intact if posable and do a complete conversion. if any one could help me with this that would be way cool.

I've been watching the other thread hoping some useful to me will come up.

I must not have made my self clear. I do NOT want to keep the TBI I wont to convert the truck over to vortec computer and all.

I have not spent much time looking at the electrical/electronics of a '98 Vortec; however, I have spent a serious amount of time reviewing pre-'96 SBC controls.
Since you have the '98's harness, life will be easier--pull the TBI engine and engine wiring harness, and replace with the Vortec engine and wiring harness. You didn't say which trans you have in the '94--that will need to be addressed. The ECM in a '94 with manual trans is entirely different than with an auto. The auto trans apps use a PCM. Also, the harness for the "60e" trans is probably different than an "80e" trans; you didn't indicate which trans you have/will have.
I'd guess you can splice into your current dash wiring for gauges/tach and ignition. The major issue may be with the VSS signal, and how it's handled with the '98. You need to determine if the VSS signals are the same for those years. The '94 uses a module to modify the frequency of the VSS, sending out different pulse rates for the various end-users; IE: PCM, speedo, auto-trans control, cruise, etc.
You could possibly obtain the wiring diagrams for each application and compare the differences. Your public library probably has a set of manuals in its reference department.
Good luck

both trucks 4l60e trans. I wonder if the 98 dash will bolt up to the 94 cab?
