What is the best way to rotate the pumkin on a chevy dana 44? Should I remove the spot welds that hold axle tubes in and rotate or at the end of axle tubes where the tube goes through the outer portion where the knuckles attach?

Just got done doing just that. Seems the thread reference I had is dead, but it is still really easy. Make sure to get yourself one of those magnetic angle readers ($10 at ACE). Make sure to measure your caster with the perches at 0 degrees. I have a '76 Chevy Dana44, and it has a -3 degree castor. Once you grind the knuckles off, grind the tube ends down to allow you to re-install the C-brackets, and rotate them to your desired degree. Don't forget you will need to shim your perches at the same degree you clocked your brackets. I bought my 10 degree shims from http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?route=product/product&path=24&product_id=111 . I believe he has all types of deal threads in the vendor section. Also, the C-brackets need to be at least 1/16" out from the axle tube. This will keep the inner axle shafts from seizing against the tubes.
