So I am new to land rovers and I am looking at my Disco that has 3" lift springs with 2" spacers and I am considering ditching the current setup and doing a coilover setup. I can weld so the fab will be not too complicated at least in the front. What do you guys think? What spring rate do I want? I can measure it all myself for ride height, drop and compression. No idea on spring rates though. I already have longer Johnny jointed long arms for the back lower arms and am considering modifying my existing front control arms to have Johnny joints to allow more articulation. Just considering some options. After wheling I noticed that the rear will twist up nicely and completely unseat the spring but the front is very limited. The Previous owner has welded in some new bump stops in the rear that realign the spring when it goes back into the cup but no isolators so its kinds noisy when it happens.

read the scary rover truggy thread on the front coilovers.. It was really really easy to do, and i had 250 350 springs on them and they were perfect...

Read BillaVistas tech thread on coilovers. Even included a spring rate calculator with the article.

might want to consider a 3 link setup too if you are going to coil overs

Thanks for the links. Some good reading there. Coilovers are not in my future, at least not for this vehicle.
