I was just it the Cliffs and had a great time. I am so proud of my wife. She drove all the way up the Carnage trail but had to winch out the top. I know that is not saying alot but it was the first real trail she ever did. The jeep is just a 4 banger 5 speed with opens front and back on 33s. It was an awsome day. I mite have to buy another jeep. I just had to tell some of you out there.:)

dave lives there and wont go... why would i drive half again the distance to badlands to get stuck in the mud and not be able to camp?:shaking:

TrailTamer XJ
09-10-2009, 08:28 PM
for dave, what he said, he dont like mud, which is some personal perferences. mud dont bother me, it a part of fun. badland have lot of more drier trails and more rocks, which many wheelers seem to prefer as they stay much cleaner.

and we wont leave you stuck in mud! we will tug you out and keep going to have fun! i never got stuck in mud actually, only time i got stuck that the hill's just too steep and slippery or some hill that's so sharp that my belly kept get hung up and stop me from going forward, but i can go back though

for real do they turn you away for loud exhaust?

TrailTamer XJ
09-10-2009, 09:29 PM
i dont want to turn this thread into a flaming each other

but how do u know i have loud exhaust? at first i had nothing (pretty much almost a open header as it was cut out at where the cat was) but i never went wheeling with it like that, i just installed a Flowmaster super 44 to help some with loudness.

one hard drop on my belly on my jeep at cliffs actually did something to the F44 which made it not so "muffling" as well before the hard slam, hmm

however im deaf if you dont know, which loudness often dont bother me.... but can be a problem to some others though

They will check you if it is too loud. in the beginning they checked every rig that came in. not so much any more. it is geared more towards the quads and bikes

thats what i figured but i wasnt sure
do they just have some db meter? where do they read from? last year out community college hosted a loud exhast competition at a car show and about the 5th vehicle in their meter rolled craps:laughing: it was not a cheap one either
anyway they were measuring 6" from the exhaust tip... i think it should be like 6ft behind the vehicle but thats just my $.02

The last few times we were there the only thing the dude at the gate asked was if we had beer. Didn't check my tires, didn't listen to my exhaust. The rules are pretty relaxed. I don't like mud! But found a way to have fun.

Aww come on Dave mud isn't as dirty as the hoes in Martucky you are chasing. It is alot of fun there, but I like mud. Too bad they won't let me bring my red truck there. They have some people working for them that are picky about the rules but most aren't.

Yes i was told not to come back till I re did my exhaust . 350 sbc hedders ,and straights.

They are working on doing it more. But yes it is geared to quads... With crazy noise

They are not that relaxed so don't say they are. The 39.5" Tire rule ,and the noise is becoming more enforced than it was. Things are being torn up to much so I am told.

I pull up into the parking lot. Us in the truck, Jeep on the trailer. Dude drives over in his toyota. "Hi, got any coolers"...Nope "Got any Beer"...Nope "Alright, have a good time."

I was their 2 weeks ago. Its always the same experience when we go.

We show up in a NICE truck, with a NICE trailer, and a Nice Jeep, We don't ack like idiots, we don't (try to) tear things up.

The owners buddies were wheeling there and were on 44's. (Think they get shit for it, no)

hey didn't you just buy a bunch of tube to put around your rig? that bunch of guys are the ones that recover other peoples broke or stuck rigs and they also helped build the place so they get to bend the rules a bit. if everyone went out there on 44's and a heavy foot it wouldn't be as fun for the guys with smaller tires and would pretty much suck.

I BS'd with the guy on 44's with a green CJ.......Nice dude. Ran into him a few times. He was always willing to help if needed.

I have NO issues with that group. I was merely referring to the tire size "rule".

NT2HLBLY

Wide ass boggers are the tire of choice there. I never had a problem with my narrow tires tho.

It gets narrow in some spots

I wasn't harrassed. I wheeled the day but was asked to come back with smaller tires. Also had a tierd v8 with straight pipe. It wasn't loud ,and I didn't drive like an idiot. My friend was the one to talk to me ,and ask that of me. I have been going there 3-4 years. I know steve the owner ,and most the regulars.

Yea The two jeeps on 44's bend the rules. They maintain the park ,and pull people out . One has been going there since the beginning of the park so he's sorta grandfathered.

But the reason the tire size is what it is , is most guys out there have smaller sami's and little rigs. The big tires "tear it up" I have 42" sx'2 and bought them knowing i would no longer be able to wheel there. Oh well so be it.

Jeepnazi I am just saying don't go there with 44's and think they are ok . At some point somebody will mention it . Wether pulling in or unloading.

The noise restriction was a concern of the neighbors and one of teh stipulations for the permit. If the noise gets out of hand htey will be shut down.
