I am going to install rear disk breaks on my '86 sami. I know I will need a prop. valve, but I don't want to pay the $75 from Spidertrax. I know that Summit has one for something like $40, but will something like this accomodate the dual brake lines to the rear? Or do I need to get the one from Spidertax?
I also remember something about swaping two of the brakelines at the m.c., is this necissary? If so, which ones do I need to swap?

The proportioning valve will go into the single line right at the master cylinder. There are two lines that go across the firewall to the passenger side. They then connect into a couple of softlines that go into a manifold assembly. This assembly then distributes to each wheel. (this assembly is kind of hidden behind a little plate on the passenger side inside frame rail near the firewall).
It is here that you will need to re-route two of the lines. In stock form the LF and RR are linked and the RF and LR are linked together. You will need to change that so the LF and RF are linked and the LR and RR are linked. I think it was the front top line and the bottom rear lines that get switched. Just trace the lines to each wheel and swap two of them. Which ever line goes to the rear should have the proportioning valve on it.
That $75 also includes a couple small fittings to make it easier to adapt the proportioning valve in there. I picked up the full lines kit because it was much easier than messing with modifying the stock lines to work.

Thanks, I totaly spaced the fact that there are only two lines out of the master cylinder. Changing the lines at the block should be really easy since the engine/tranny are out:)
I will brobably just buy a prop. valve from summit, as I know someone that use to work at a break shop. He has just about any addapter/fitting you can possibly get, and he said if I find something I need, I can have it.
This disk kit I am buying is used, but in good working order. I will need to modify my rear break lines to connect to the calipers also. I still have my stock front lines, so it should be pretty easy to install.
Thanks again for the info!
