I have a 1977 f250 with a Dana 44 in the front. The stamp on the web of the axle shows 44-9f. Does anyone know what the 9f means? Also is this the original front axle to the truck. I'm pretty sure it has 4.09 gears. The rear is a Dana 60 for sure. I think it has 4.10 gears? Can anyone confirm that? Any help will be appreciated. New to this so sorry if this is silly.
it came with a d44, but how are we supposed to know if it is the original one?

the 9f are just casting numbers fro the mold. chevys often have a 5f, 5cf, 8c and a few others with no real rhime or reason to them.
pull the cover and count teeth or find the stamp on the ring.

Almost all the info on a dana 44 you could ever want
if it is the high pinion style d44 you got the first of the 'good' trucks there
