I can't think of any reason why it shouldn't fit. Both axles are leaf sprung and driver side drop. The only real differences are going to be high pinion (oil pan clearance?) and possibly the width.
Any axle will fit under any truck with enough monidifcation - I've got basically the same D60 under a coil sprung 78' FSB and a coil sprung 74' EB.
One would think swapping a leaf sprung axle for another leaf sprung axle should be easy - the only thing I could foresee a problem would be spring width where you might have to widen the leaf spring mounts to accommodate the D60.

the later d60's are 36 inch spacing whereas the earlier sfa's are 32 inches. you could make a custom front x member and stock rear spring hangers for the front springs of an 80-96 2-350. the frame width at the rear spring mount is 32 for all the years, where the front of the 80+ is at 40'' wide, while the 70's trucks stayed at 32 in the front.

If your going full width on a scout its way easier to do it with the earlier axle

Hey Chi, what are you doing over hear in the ford area???.... I got a d60 chevy in the scout, but I got my wifes 77 f-250 looking good but it has a bad R+P in the front (low pinion 44 anyway) and I got a deal on a early 80's ford d60 and match rear for 400.00 I figured I just throw it in there but not so sure now:D

That's not worth the price of scrap. "I figured I just throw it in there but not so sure now".
Uh, yea.
