I'm trying to find a good way to ship a t-case. It's an NP231J and from what I can find, is somewhere between 70-75 lbs. I know people ship these all the time back and forth, but searching didn't give me much and I don't want to send someone to receive a cracked case.
If you've shipped one, did you go freight shipping or UPS/FedEx/USPS? How did you package it, just a regular box???

I shipped the case out of my TJ a few years ago by UPS ground. I don't remember the exact weight, but it was probably around 85 lbs. For packaging, I found a two cardboard boxes that were almost the same size, one of them was double wall, and put one inside the other. I cut a piece of plywood for the top and bottom of the box, and wood 2x2s for each corner on the sides, which were then screwed to the plywood pieces. To keep the transfer case from moving around, several more 2x2s were used in various places around the case, and also attached to the plywood top and bottom. Several layers of cardboard were used for padding. The box and case arrived most of the way across the country in great shape. I've shipped transmissions the same way with good results as well.

Put it in a garbage bag first.They have a tendancy to leak and the shippers dont like that.I usually just wrap in heavy duty cardboard.I live by a fitness wholesaler so th boxes are extremely strong.If its over 85lbs theyll need a buisness address at Fedex but I usually just add INC. to the end of the persons name.Or ask the buyer to provide a buisness address {anything will do...Garage,Flowershop,ETC}

Good tip! They didn't validate that it was a residential address, just that it had a business name or something tied to the address?

I've always thought about wrapping one in a thick garbage back, putting it in a good cardboard box and filling the void space with expanding foam all the way around.
