Hey guys, I put a 350 in my jeep Tj and I'm working on wiring the alternator. i had a TPi setup so the alternator I got was a 3 wire alt Auto zone Part# 1367-6-11. I found a plug (has four prongs with 3 wires. I'm trying to figure out how to wire it. I know the red wire goes to the batt term. then to the battery. And the other wire is for volt meter. But the last wire is suppose to have a resistance in it. So i put a 1v 100 ohm resistor in the line and ran it to the start/run wires. Not working. Any ideas?

You have a 3 wire and aplug with 4 prongs...
A lot of people want to jimmyrig their alternator wiring, don't do it. Run a large wire from the batery terminal to the battery post on the starter, get a 2 wire plug from Napa and hook the red to the power distribution (usually the starter) and the white one to an idiot light in the dash. The other side of the idiot light must be connected to 12v with ign on.

I'm not familiar with your particular alternator, but the resistor I always use is a 12v marker light or dash bulb in series between the alt and ignition sw.
Your 100 ohm resistor is probably too much.

Alright well I tired testing volt from batt > alt and batt > block both are the same. So the ground is good. I tested 12v at L wire (key on) that was good. My batt > alt wire might not be large enough gauge. I have the S wire connected to the batt term on alternator. So I guess I will try to wire the L into a dash light then ignition instead of he 100 ohm 1 watt resistor. Thanks for the ideas guys!

Still no luck with alternator. Anyone else have any ideas?

wire it this way and when you start it rev it to like 2000-2500 ro energise the field and it will work.
