Local machine shop here will do it if you take them a bare housing... About $60 for both.

What he said, assuming you're referring to a rear axle. If referring to a front axle, nothing.

I got an adjustable reamer and corrected what a local 'machine shop' screwed up. I told them the application, dude bought an auger for the drill and went at it. Didn't even open them up enough.

I got mine from MSCDirect. You'll need to bring it out to 1.6" or so, so you'll need two reamers.

preciate it:smokin:

one more Q.. would there anything wrong with slapping a sterling 10.25 under my truck? clearance is not a huge issue, but money is, and it would be cheaper for me to run one of these. now my question is..can i get a spool for this, or do i have to weld it up?
i figure i can get one for around 200 bucks, thats cheaper than the 35 spline shafts for the 60 alone, and i get can replacement shafts for a sterling from a boneyard much easier

My tubes where removed from the housing when I did mine.
Set it up in a lathe and used a 1.5" drill, then a boring bar to go .010 over that.
Mine are 1.6.

Nothing at all wrong with putting a Sterling 10.25 in your truck. Don't bother finding spare shafts for it as you will probably never break it. If clearance is not an issue I say go for it. :D Don't think a spool is available but there are lockers for them. (Detroit and ARB come to mind)

I hear they will have up to 5.13's for them soon if not already so I sat just go with the sterling.

I don't know if you are running locking hub or what in the rear but take a look at these DANA 60 Drive Plates (http://www.polyperformance.com/drivegears_driveplates.htm)

I thought that the bolt pattern of these axles are metric so what do the guys do who swap them in?

Thanks, Phil

The wheel bolt pattern only switched to metric with the Superdutys. Also the ring gear was increased to 10.5" The earlier trucks used the standard 8/6.5 bolt pattern.
