Well, it started off with a bunch of para cord I had laying around for months. Finally decided I would do something with it.

First incarnation was cool, but not what I wanted. I quickly discovered it needed to be removable and v1.0 was tied into the mount points. I also discovered that the length I want to carry with is different than the length I like to shoot with :laughing: So here is v1.0

Oh yeah, and the knot up top was perfect to dig in to your shoulder when slung up :shaking:

v2.0 came out a lot better. Tapped in a sling mount on the buttstock, and then took an old cheapo ring and hit it with the angle grinder. Then a few swipes with varying files to even it out and drill and tap for another sling mount. Next one I make will be with a slightly better cheapo ring and I will actually take care to file it flat ;) :laughing: I also retied the sling adding the nylon webbing as shown. Gave me just the right amount of adjustability to do whatever I want with it. Comfortable as hell too, I think I could carry it for a while this way. What sayeth the OSR PBB Gods? Criticize and improve it for me ;)

Also did a v1.1 :flipoff2: I needed a strap for my USPSA purse. This is 4 pieces of scrap melted together with a lighter :grinpimp:

You think people would actually buy these? Honestly, they are relatively cheap to make, but time consuming. This one actually has a plastic transition, only because it is what I ahd laying around. If I make more I will get some metal ones. I just need to get a bunch of swivel mounts for my other guns now.

That was my theory. I didnt measure but I would guess it is about 70 feet of cord.

They are just time consuming enough that I wouldn't want to mass produce. I really need to see what it will cost to make. looks very interesting and very unique. i would be interested in one that had no hardware on it and was long enough to where the connections would be slip-knot style to go on my shotgun that has no sling mounts.

Would like to have it where it would slip-tight down around the barrel somewhere and then somehow tighten around the buttstock.

Apparently I am too stupid to add a poll to a thread, so I ask here, what length do you all like having your slings. Do you adjust them a lot from carrying to shooting?

Guess I've never actually measured, but I do adjust my sling quite a bit if I use it for both shooting and carrying, so the nylon webbing at one end would be necessary.

OK, so this brings up another good question for you guys. What type of hooks would you like to see on the ends of these? I did the quick release sling swivels because I have those on several rifle applications. Would you prefer hooks?

Those are currently the only rifles I have slings on.

I have 34" of sling from mount to mount on my AR15. It is used more for standing aiming than carrying, but i could use it a little longer if needed to be. But if you have a strap then it could be adjusted.

That would probably be about right on my AR also, if I had a 2 point instead of the 1 point I have. If it was adjustable 10-12 inches, I think it would fit the widest range of rifles. How much adjustment does the one you made have from shortest adjustment to longest, and what are the measurements?

Current measurements are 31.25 at shortest and 36.25 at longest. I think my goal will be about 34 short and 40 long. I have to figure out the best way to set up straps in order to get the most adjustability without over using strap. Simple is kind of the draw on this one. It adjusts very easily in the v2.0 setup.

Love to get more measurements from people. What are your slings at currently?

yeah, 34 is for standing aim, not sling port....

It looks like 32-40 is about what they will end up. Thats with 20" of paracord (about 40 feet untied)

New, AR 15 version. It is a PIA to make the straps removable and still look halfway decent.
