: If you just got $7000 to $9000.......
purecountry 09-10-2009, 09:18 AM What would you do? I've got a 78 F-150 4x4, and just ran into some money. Give me a list of parts and prices, only thing is budget must stay under $9000,
building for southeastern Atena/Windrock wheeling. I'm thinking along the lines of cut 44 TSL's, and 1 tons, but I want to see the ideas you guys have up your sleeves. Right now truck is a standard cab, shortbed, 400, c6, np205, 9" rear, hp44 front, on 31" a/t tires. I have decent fab skills, I can weld, and have a torch and access to some other things, and a good deal of mechanical knowledge. But no tube bender, so that kinda stuff is out unless I can find a cheap friend for cage work..... Well lets hear the ideas guys.
fordnut 09-10-2009, 10:51 AM with that kind of money you could buy a nice bender too
trail*ridin 09-10-2009, 10:58 AM man what i could do with 9 grand and a 78-79 ford.

Panthers65 09-10-2009, 12:42 PM Buy a trailer
Get the 150 running right and use it as a tow rig
Buy a buggy thats already built.
I'll get flammed, but it's cheaper, faster, and there are some great deals on buggys right now

Proeliator 09-10-2009, 02:39 PM A blown 572. You could build that for 9k. Its the only way to be sure your money was spent wisely :D

fairlane_68 09-11-2009, 07:53 PM I'd buy fake boobs for my girl, or any girl as long as I get to play with them when I want. And she'd have to ride around with me in said Ford.
Idaho4x4Bronco 09-11-2009, 08:06 PM 5 ton rockwells, buy\build a decent BBF, run a 205\200 combo, get some 57-62" R2s, buy a cheap bender to build a subframe, getcha some superduty coils,4 link the front, getcha some blocks and 12-15" lift springs for the rear, ladder bars, and have fun with your new monster ford :)

I think your calculator is broken, :D
So how did you "run" into this cash? :D
I would like to "run" into some.
Proeliator 09-11-2009, 08:48 PM I think your calculator is broken, :D
Naaa, you really could do it on the cheap for that. I'm not talking all forged internals like our engines, but still :D

Hey pro, can you show me a parts list on that motor:D
I "ran" into it because for the last 3 years all I've wanted to do was build my truck, but I've never had the money, always seemed bills, then a wedding got in the way. Well the wife has been saving her own money, plus what she could out of our joint bank account, and over the last couple of years has squirreled away around $9000 for me to use on my truck. So no need to buy another chick some boobs, the wife has D's already. I'm really think ton's, detroits and 5.13's front and rear, a cage lift kit, with cage arms, an atlas 4 speed, and a jy 460 with the .60 forged piston kit laying in my living room, along with some other goodies. That plus a sawzall and a BFH, along with some 18.4x16.1 v-treads should make a fun time.

I have the cage arms in the front of my D, and Tom's 5.5 lift coils for reference. the arms and brackets look beefy as hell. I haven't wheeled on them yet so I can't vouch for that, but I've heard they stand up to some pretty hard abuse. Good luck.:smokin:

Ah. Well remember to save some bud. Never know when that rainy day will come.
whiteman 09-12-2009, 11:27 AM Injected 460 W/Rear mounted Radiator, C6 W/MVB, 203/205DBL, D60F w/detroit, 14BR W/spool, Full hydro, Cage arms on coilovers in front, 4 Link rear with coilovers, 40"-44" Interco tires, DIY Beadlocks, Doved front, Doved and Bobbed rear, Suspension Seats W/ Harness' ...... thats about 9K if you do it on the cheap!
Bronco Brian 09-12-2009, 01:12 PM If you don't have one save more for a down on a house. And if you do have one put 1/2 to it if not more. And just keep pluging away at the truck.
I really like his idea honestly. Sounds like a nice setup. BTW Proeliator, I watched the video of your truck and that thing is just plain NASTY. I love it, bad ass Ford you've got there man.

br0nc0xrapt0r 09-12-2009, 03:32 PM spending most of it on suspension and axles will be the smartest way to go, there is no reason to have a shit ton of HP under the hood if you cannot get it to the ground. Your on the right track with the one tons. when you get to pendleton there is a junk yard on the 76 pretty close to the 5. They sell one ton rears for next to free. also san diego craigslist is a gold mine I would see 60 fronts pop up there from time to time. Stay away from galant truck parts they are just another truck yard but they think a 78 steering box with no guarantee off a bronco is a 500 dollar part.
