I have a 89 rr wrecked in my "junkyard" in MS....I had my friend go out there to check on my stuff and some DA had opened up the hood and left it up......In the elements for no telling how long upwards of 6 mo or more even. ...did I mention the intake manafold had been sold off....anyway i was planning on rebuilding it and doing a holley TBI swap on it.....Ya'll think its salvageable? I know you can't tell for sure at your desks but in general is the block rebuildable??????

You could use it as a boat anchor, or take it to a bare block, hone it, try and find bigger rings/pistons, oh well, I think you get the point.
I would use a used motor before I would rebuild that one.
Unless you want to waste a lot of time...

PM me when you start parting it out, I get dibs....
Could be a good project. The block will be ok to work on. You could go for 4.1 pistons then stroke it up to a 5ltr. The stroker crnak is ok, got called the rubber crank over here because it has a tendancy to stretch sometimes.
Would be a full port and polish, uprate the oil pump, 3 angle valve job, bigger cam etc etc. If you stroked it you could be looking at around 270bhp and slightly more torque

Hey ARD...Where are you sourcing your parts? Crank (5.0 stroker) and pistons specifically.
Thnx.

Dude,
He's in the UK. That shiat grows on trees over there. They used that 3.5 in a lot of shiat.
Here I would just do a 4.6 long block with better cam. just my .02

I'm just looking for the crank and pistons....Maybe some rods...The tear-down and re-build I would do myself...And in the long run I think it would be a lot cheaper (and more intimate) than buying a 4.6 short (a good one...Not the crap built ones rover has been pawning off for the last couple of years...You know...The ones with rods built from blasa wood).

Oh you mean the "porous" ones?
I was only at a LR dealer for 3 months, yet I saw 5 porous blocks. What's up with that stuff. The only thing is that get 12 month warranty.
