Hi again. Just bought a 87' HJ60 dirt cheap and in the process of getting it back on the road. the problem is the fuel in the tank was rancid so he had a pop bottle full of fuel under the hood. there's just one line coming from the tank and no return line? could someone tell me how the return is set up? i dont see anywhere that the return line could go. i've seen some pics but not enough detail to see what's going on. could someone shed some light or direct me to a diagram or a good pic please? I know i need a manual asap. thnx for any help

no return line on mine but it's an 84 hj47.

on mine, the excess diesel gets returned from the pump to the intake side of the manual primer pump. yours should be the same.

for more detailed info, you might want to check out the diesel section on the www.ih8mud.com cruiser forum.

There's no return line, what orange45 said. I've owned both 86 and 87 HJ60, fuel simply gets returned through to the pump. I might even have an '87 fuel tank kicking around if you get stuck.
Cheers!

No matter what year, you got it right as the 2H (3B engines with inlines pumps also the same) has no return to the tank only through the fuel pump.

Direct injected engines along with rotory fuel pumps seem to have return lines to the tank which helps cool the fuel after being compressed for high injection psi. I am sure there is more to the picture than what I have mentioned.
