: Cheap bump stops...

I noticed not too long ago when a late model (98) s-10 blazer came in (we don't get many passenger vehicles at our semi tire center) that upon removal of the rear tires it had VERY large rear bumpstops...

So today i'm walking around the yard and notice not one, but 4...two blazers, a jimmy, and an envoy...Upon closer inspection these seem to be a fairly cheap alternative to the aftermarket poly bumpstops...They have a single bolt holding the bucket to the frame, are about 4" in diameter and around 6" long...I will get a picture tommorow evening of them...Both of them were $6 total...And if I were to damage them or tear them I can pick one up locally and cheap.

Just a little tech for those looking at aftermarket alternatives. Always on the lookout for using things differently than how the factory envisioned...

isnt that the whole point of having a rubber/poly bumpstop :-P These would be great because they look to be made of a softer material then all the aftermarket poly bushings, which tend to explode on hard impacts. Another option is the rubber bumpers that go on the back of trucks/semi trailers for bumping into loading docs they are real cheap.

They don't SEEM that hard?? Take a stop at your local salvage yard or your chevy dealer and check them out, see if they will work for you...but at $6 a pair I didn't think it would hurt...
