: A doubler for my Burb?

My 97 2500 burb is slowly headed to trail duty as im soon hoping to buy a new diesel tow rig.

Its a 454/4l80e/243c with a high pinion 60 and a 14 bolt. I plan to run 42's with as small of a lift as possible. It has 4" springs right now for about 7" of lift.

It has 4:10 will probably go to 5.13s or 5.38's. What Im wondering is what my options are for a doubler aside from the obvious 203/205 setup. Nothing wrong with just wondering if there is a doubler kit that uses my 243c if this would be a good option?

The plan is to build something capable of getting in and out of the rubicon with 6+ people in leather seats with the a/c on and the stereo thumping:smokin:

I am guessing you are over using an atlas...?? What about something using a 241? I know Duffy was talking about making them... Never really followed up on them though.

The atlas is an alway an option just $$$and I think in the long run I could use the extra front drive shaft length a doubler would create. I plan to build with about 4" of up travel with an air bump in constant contact on leaf springs. Oh and 9/13/09

I would look around for 241 doublers... I might just do that, its been a while since I have seen anything on them.

you can use one of D&D's doubler kits for a 241. same as doing a 241 to a 241.

by the way nice burb, here is my old one

Terry, check this out man. Interesting stuff, and some good detail too. It has me thinking the chevy needs a doubler.

***EDIT***

I dont know anything about the 243's... I know there has been talk of nv241/ 205 , d300 doublers though. The 241 will mate to a 4l80e rather easily.

I remember seeing your burb for sale for a while backdefinetly a nice looking rig. Its pricey but as far as bang for the buck the north west fab black box is looking like a pretty killer setup with a slip yoke eliminator on the 243 and it would still be push button plushness!!

Does the reduction gear setup from a Rubicon fit in that t-case? That would give you 4 to1 in a single t-case. If you wanted to go higher (less reduction) shift up to a higher gear in the transmission.

Seems the cases are different in the 241OR and they have a 23 spline input, but you could score a case out of a wrecked H2 or H3 Alpha.

Dont know much about the rubi 241's... How ever, I know that the 241 /231 planetaries are interchangeable as well as the inputs between the two cases.

I do like where this is going though. I wonder who would have a solid answer, and what the cost of the rubi reductions are...??

If you have the wheelbase

241/205 doubler:

You caould probably use your 243, or pick up a busted 241 on the cheap.

It seems doable and would be pretty simple. I am going to have to double check what T-cases Hummer Alphas had in them.

Yea I will have to ask my t case guy. But the bigger question is will it hold up to a big block and 42's?
