On my dad's Samurai we changed the gears in the T-case instead of both axles, worked out great.
Can I do this with the NP203 or another T-case (205, 208)

i guess i did not search right or word it right O' wise one. I really did not know that's why I asked.

Was not talking about a doubler, just gears.

Maybe guide me to the right thread or tell me how. Just a thought.

Since I feel nice today.........

On Samurai's you can install different t-case gears that change both the high range and low range ratio. That is nice because changing the high range t-case to a lower gear is equivalent to putting in lower axles gears. However the only reason you can do that is because the Samurai cases are not direct drive, meaning even in high range the power goes through gearing. Most other transfer cases (including the 203) are direct-drive, meaning there is no gear to change for high range....power goes in one side and basically goes straight through to the output. On direct drive t-cases you can only change the low range gearing if somebody makes an aftermarket kit for that particuliar t-case.

JB Conversions makes a 3:1 gearset for the NP205 to replace the 2:1 low range. Known as LoMax205. It cost about $1000 and comes with a larger case.

John Sumner used to make a 3.2:1 gear set for the NP203, it was $1000 and needed a case mod for the larger gears.

208s are no good off road compared to a cast iron, all gear t-case IMO.

That makes sense and thanks for the answers.
