I have a GFI outlet that says it is 15A and rated for 20A through put. Does this mean I can use this outlet on a 20A breaker? :homer:

TIA

Yes.. if you only have one recpt on a 20amp circuit the code reads that the device must be rated 20a. if you use more than one device per circuit they an be rated 15a. no one ever checks or worries about it. I would hook it up to the 20a breaker as long as the wire is a min. of 12ga.

Correct.

But, while what you stated is to code, I personally put 20A receptacles on 20A breakers. I personally consider it safer, knowing that it is possible to put a 20A load on a single 15A receptacle.

I also use the commercial/industrial grade 20A receptacles in high use areas. They grab a lot better and keep grabbing longer.
