OK here is my senerio
In My J10 I did a 350tbi/4l60e swap 10 years ago and it went great. But now I want to convert it to a Diesel.
So I will not have the TBI anymore but will still have the 4l60e. I was wondering if I could hook up the TPS and TAch line into the ECM and make it think it still had the TBI motor hooked up so the trans would still Shift the same.
I know I will have to figure out the mechanics and electronics that is not a Issue. I just want to know if anyone can think of anything I am overlooking.

It might work, but why not just sell the 4l60 and get a 700r4? Same trans with out the fancy computer stuff.

i could but I got his straight from GM and it has maybe 20k on it. the money is allready be spent. I was talking to a guy that said I could use a eCM from a 6.5 with a 4l60e. I need to look at the electronic print for that.
I am looking at using a Isuzu 3.9 turbo diesel with the adaptor kit to GM bellhousing

Yes I got there too. But it requires a TPS and speed input which I allready have on mine. so I do not see any advantage to this over the Stock ECM

The 6.5l standalone should work if you can find one. And would be cheaper than the TCI unit.
But just sell the 4l60 and be money ahead. Then by a 700r4 and rebuild it will little strong parts with the money used form the 4l60. Plus it will be stronger since its not just a stock 4l60.
Most the cores for the 700r are 100-200 bucks. Then you wouldn't be out extra money of having to by the contoller. You would damn near brake even!

how I would be money ahead I paid $1270 10 years ago from the dealer for the 4l60e and that is and I see for about $1000 for a reman 700r4. I do not think I could get 1000 for a used 4l60e even with 20k on it.

Look you sell the 4l60e for say $800 bucks. Don't waste anymore money buy reman or dealer shit!!! Take that money and Buy a core form u-pull it etc.. Most these go for $200 bucks. Have it rebuilt on the bench at most shops at most is $500 bucks if that. They can build to stronger than the stock 4l60 as well.
Quit getting ripped off. You won't be out any money having to by a contoller. So that 1270 trans plus 400 bucks = $1670 now. vs a rebuilt 700r4= 800 bucks of your original money!

Do you think that 4l60 or 700r4 will live long behind a diesel, I doubt it.
Go with 4l80 and you ll save money in the long run.
