Hello:

This is my first post so be gentle. I would like to know if it is possible to add a header to a 22re and keep the quietness of the stock exhaust system? I did a lot of searching and everyone talks about how their new systems sound deeper and so forth, but could not find anything about keeping the sound the same as the stock system. If anyone knows, what would be the difference in performance, and sound between a pacesetter and a thorley header?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide,

im not to sure about a header changing your exhaust tone that much. it might alter the exhaust pulses but its not gonna make it sound much different. if your worried about keeping your exhaust quiet when upgrading it then keep your original exhaust tubing size (and lenght all the way out the back) and run a dynomax turbo muffler. i cut out my dads muffler from his stock tacoma with a 3rz and fit the turbo muffler in there. i didnt know what to expect when i started it up, but it barely sounded any different at all. and theres deffanatly a difference in power

The header will change exhaust tone, not necessarily louder, just different.

The sound shouldnt change alot it mostly depends on what muffler you use.I dont know about the thorleys but I put a pacesetter on my 87 and I had to do a good bit of grinding on the bellhousing to get it to fit maybe thorleys will flt better.
