I put a supercharger on my 95 taco with the urd fule upgrade kit. Got it dynoed an got 9psi of boost. The check engine light stayed on. Code bank 1 po170. Since then the light went off. The truck is sometimes hard to start an revs at idle. As you know superchargers are made to work on 97 an up do to the ecu. Can i put a 97 ecu on my 95 an would that work. If not how can i make it work. Do i have to flash it to the truck an how do i do that. It seems to be working but not right all the time. Can anybody help me.

I have no idea
did you call URD & ask them?

PO170 is fuel trim on bank 1. there isn't really a bank one, because you only have one front and rear o2 sensor, not one per side. your urd stuff is supposed to only add fuel in open loop operation (more than 80% throttle). in open loop operation, the computer isn't supposed to look at o2 readings, it just dumps fuel in according to preset maps. what is happening, and this might be the problem with the early computers (pre-97) is that the o2 sensor is seeing the extra fuel from the urd stuff and trying to trim the stock fuel to keep the af ratio at 14.7 or whatever, and it can't trim the stock injectors enough, so the computer sees the engine running rich and it can't correct it.

solution: should have listened when they said no pre-97. some people run the supercharger on those motors with no fuel mods and have had the motors live forever. i think it probably varies a lot based on your particular motor/mileage/etc.

i have a supercharged 1998 T100 w/ urd 7th injector and O2 sensor calibrator. i've got no check engine lights (now that i have my wiring fixed), but notice that some days it runs stronger than others. i think i finally need to sit down and do some tuning to get it figured out.

Gadget from urd said If can get a 97 ecu one that matches a 95 what ever that means an flash the computer to it. Would you know how that works?

nope. although i love the urd stuff i have, and they were great about helping me, gadget's info was often cryptic. i don't know anything about flashing the ecu's. to the best of my knowledge that isn't possible with a toyota ecu. as far as matching up, he just means same transmission/engine/model. like i said. the 7th injector comes with a basic tune that assumes you have headers and a 2.2 inch pulley. if you don't, it's going to run rich in open loop mode when the 7th injector kicks in. i have a feeling that the base tune needed for a truck depends much more on how the truck is driven and the condition of the engine itself. i still have to get a wide band o2 and afr gauge to get mine tuned.
